He had an embedded collar and now that we have adopted him, we are still handling the aftermath of all that. He has a naked neck, many sores, 2 types of mange....he's a mess. I just hope he wasn't traumatized so much that he can't emotionally handle a collar once he can physically. My poor baby. I am still...

Had my heart set on the collar and couldn't pass it up despite missing the sale I will add in the discount when I process the payment...I forget that if I put the 15th for the date valid it ends it on the 15th

Really NICE Coat
Published (2009-12-16 12:19:00)
we're gonna keep the schneider's coat for Tuck Tuck . . . last night Rob tried it on him, and he's our longest dog and he has the deepest chest, so it fits him. we'll probably give tucker's red land's end coat to Doc and let Button have Reba's old LL Bean coat, which is big for him but it does the job.

Dover is a boy, and better accessorized than I am, which is saying something considering I'm a undergarment and show FANATIC! I blame it solely on Rebecca. Well, and Lisa too. But mostly Rebecca.

Yikes! Sorry for the DP, it's really expensive. It was only 19.99 at Home Goods.

Collar Envy

Thanks all....he is a lucky guy to have been rescued. I am a big lover of Animal Cops & you always see the embedded collar stories. I never thought in a million years I would be the owner of a soul that it happened to. At the moment, we use a harness (very loose) when we absolutely have to put him on a leash. With the mange issue, we couldn't even do the collar to prevent itching which is why he dug the hell out of his neck. So...

Where do you all buy sweaters?
Published (2009-12-17 17:35:00)
I've used human tee-shirts on both my two with great success (Liberty is currently sporting her "I'd Rather Be Naked" tee-shirt). We're supposed to get significant snow this weekend, and fragile Miss Lib will not be pleased, I suspect, so I'm going to a Goodwill Saturday, I think, to pick up some heavier kids' wear for cheap.

Weight Pull Harnesses for sale.
Published (2009-12-17 12:28:00)
..Scott, you sure you don't want to buy it, so you can add it to your collection of harnesses used for new comers??? It's not a bad harness, but just not fuctional for competetion in my book. Good for training, or doing light weight, but that would be about it.

http://www.backcountryk9.com/167/0/Products.aspx I have this one, and it works well, it doesn't come out of shape at all. I think it says you could use it to bake a dog bowl shaped cake

I don't have a particular brand I like, but I do look for ones with that guard thingy so you don't cut off too much by accident. I always seem to have the dog that at the last minute will pull their foot away and without that I would probably end up cutting off half of their nail. Good luck

I have mixed feelings towards it. Buddy (my boxer/pit mix) is such a bonehead that he would pull regardless if he's being choked or not, which in term could hurt him. SO, if it works for your dog, then by all means use it.

Try freezing canned dog food or yogurt, or whatever in the kong. It takes them a long while to empty it. I worry with ropes that they will swallow the strings and cause serious GI problems. A durable (not edible) nylabone will also keep them busy for a bit. A flirt pole needs a human to operate it, no good if your away. A spring pole is a great way to exercise them, but under supervision.
