I'm glad you were able to resolve the issue. And yes, running multiple instances of a browser is uncommon, at least as far as I know. If you are running CCleaner with the browser open, I recommend that you close all running applications first, excluding security software.

Can't uninstall Open Office...

What operating system are you using? What error message do you get (if any) when trying to uninstall? Have you tried reinstalling it over the top of what you have and trying the uninstaller again? Posts here may be of interest http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?p=340801 http://user-faq.openoffice.org/new-faq/faq...4521353711.html

Wipe free space to clean more...

Ok, thanks for answering, it did clear some things for me. But I still think it's not working properly, as Recuva finds all the bits of files that were there before I've runned CCleaner's wiper, even though none of them are recoverable. Anyway, I think I'll stop wiping my hd because I'm not that paranoid, so I guess this topic should be shut down.

Conflict with Registry Mechanic
Published (2009-12-14 17:00:00)
I've been using it for 3 years, and have never had an issue of any kind. Doesn't conflict with CCleaner in any way, and I'm assuming you don't run them at the same time.

But I still think it's not working properly, as Recuva finds all the bits of files that were there before I've runned CCleaner's wiper, even though none of them are recoverable. Yes it can still find some filenames but as you say the actual files are unrecoverable so there is no issue with someone potentially...

Can't see list of cookies
Published (2009-12-15 14:04:00)
It's all very strange. Just looked at my ccleaner again. It showed precisely TWO cookies under "Options - Cookies - Cookies to keep" Then ran the cleaner - and it deleted "0 KB, 61 files" for FF cookies. When I double-click on the deletion line, I can see all the URLs that I would expect to see in "Options - Cookies - Cookies to keep"

Configuring options for /AUTO

Try the portable version of CCleaner instead and you won't have to worry about installing it in the first place, you could then run it directly from a USB Thumb Drive, etc., and it would always be there. I don't however see anything wrong with those (App) entries.

CCleaner doesn't let me...
Published (2009-12-12 08:25:00)
Unfortunately, I can't even access it. When I click on system restore (in the start menu) it gives me this message: "System restore is not able to protect your computer. Please restart your computer and then run system restore again." I rebooted and then tried again, but it gave me the same message...

Welcome to piriform MargeR. That isn't a fault of CC its a fault of the previous uninstaller. CC only reads info from the registry.

You're better off keeping the Event Logs tidy through Event Viewer itself ... it's far more configurable. It's not a good idea to keep them completely cleared down because of their usefulness.

Iv been using ccleaner for years and never used any thing other then default. Registry back up should be a must and automated as dennis suggested. But i cant see how it would cause your issue. are you using Noscript? also some addons cause curruption of the cache and can mess with pages. Orbits addon stopped some pages working so it could be worth while uninstalling the addons and going...

I've used Registry Mechanic for at least a couple years now along with CCleaner -- never had any problems here.

was wiping free space checked? Yes or no have a look at windirstat. it will help you locate whats taking up the space. This image might help you http://i46.tinypic.com/wcl46c.jpg On another note, Don't bother using 35 passes. It's a waste of time. There is no evidence one pass can be recovered.
