went to the Kats moms place today...way overate, mucho HAM(with pineapple) and too many other goodies to remember, except the jalapenos with cream chees inside.I will be rememebring those for a while. tomorrow, it is dinner at MY moms place, then a few hours of shooting pleasure with my brothers... BTW, Sat is the BIG gunshow in DFW..Dallas Market Hall 1600 tables full of progun goodness...the Kat wants to go, so I will drag the Mini14 along...

Looks like someone was using a cross bow. That's why I'm not a fan of head shots, the vitals are much larger and it's far easier to kill something with a hole through them.

It will seal, but be removable. A dab of grease in the seam, and around the bolt heads will make it easier, and control where the coating splits.

Youth Squirrel Hunt. We took the cur out to see if he could tree some squirrels for my friend's 9 Y.O. son Jacob. I had things to do in the morning, so we didn't leave until afternoon. Jacob had shot one at the house that morning. He shoots a 20 ga.
We made a round on ridge. John Jimmy treed a few times, but it is hard to spot a squirrel with the leaves on. Jacob shot...

Handguns I've got nothing. The worst I have shot are stout loads out of a 44 mag Super Blackhawk. The type of loads that if you shoot 20 or 25, that you can feel it in your elbows and shoulders the next day. Nothing brutal that made me want to quit shooting.

a 284 win is almost going to require hand loading. i think there is only one factory ammo choice for it and i doubt you would find it on the shelf at most places. hand loaded 284 win ammo would have the best ballistics of the choices listed though. i'd scratch it off the list unless you are planning on hand loading from the get go.
the other two choices would be far from ideal when it comes ...

You could always buy the combo and sell the rifle and put the scope on what you want to LOL

I wear either jeans and a t-shirt or if it is cold I add a camo jacket/coat and possible a second pair of jeans. I don't really understand why people wear full camouflage especially when hunting with a gun.
