another solution i have been pondering is just running a divorced toyota case doubling off my stock one i'm confident that i can get a toyota CV front driveshaft working with it setup how it is, the angle isnt thattttt bad and i've seen worse (thinking about pinkstonm's cadillac powered trooper)

I thought randii used a stock 2wd bell (t-5?) mated to the toyota trans...it's been a long time, though, so I'm not positive.

Any updates? I think this is a cool little project and has potential. I also think it's a good idea to go with Yota parts.

98 and newer engine replacement

My first guess is the timing belt jumped a tooth on one of the camshafts...engine may be fine otherwise.

one peice driveshaft
Published (2009-11-04 12:04:00)
Yah I figured if the one piece drive shaft I have doesn't fit, then a shop could change the length for me for not to much. I am still worried about that trans mount I have in there though. I think it threw off my pinion angle. Which I know nothing about. So how do you check the different angles of your drive shaft to make sure they are good? So after I put the one piece in I will know whether to keep the shims in the back or if I have to...

Sucks, but I bet demand will actually rise for these over the next few years as those year models get cheaper.
I'd be interested if I owned one.

I was stuck at the same place. Sprung over on d44 w/ a mixed spring pack netting roughly 5-6" of lift (matches rear spring over). For the rear, just get a one-piece shaft made and it will be fine. For the front, ugh. Honestly, the only thing I could see working is turning the C's and running a cv. I have my axle fwd about 6" and I've got about 2 feet @ a 25* angle to work with. Even w/ a cv...

Before I got it my friend had it.
Next to his Datsun Diesel they also have another 86 Pup Diesel.
Now Flexstyle..............Not.
Just seeing how bad the flex is before the sas.
The only things that were done to it was done by my friend. It has a 3-4inch lift from cranked torsion bars and shackles in the rear if you know these trucks they ...

A lot of guys go to a one piece with Troopers and Rodeos especially after a lift. There are a few threads here and on other sites that can show you more specifics. These one piece shafts are not that expensive to have made.

If your dead set on 37's on the D44 and 12 bolt, then you've got the wrong engine. No matter how much money you throw at it for more ponies, it just won't have enough. Why don't you go get another Trooper that came with a GM V6 and get crazy with it. Stuff it with a 3.4L and you'll have the power you need to turn those 37. I'm afraid the 2.3 L is not going to do what you want with 37's and those ...

Thats a big cab, that sucker is gonna be tall.
Ive thought about doing the same with an older mini truck cab, mainly to avoid the smog, and high reg fees of ca.
Whats your plan for the wiring and dash stuff?

She cleaned up real nice!
Three swampers I got from my uncle to use for mock up. If I can find a fourth or even two more I will be buying them from him to use.
These springs are from the s10 blazer donor vehicle. I like the arch and length but they are only three leaves including the overload. I think I will use them for the front and take out the over load...
