Is the relay for the passenger seat in the same place, or on the other side of the cab? Maybe he could swap the relays, which should confirm where the problem is. What's involved in replacing the element? I assume it'd be best to have an upholsterer do the work.

The 22mpg was derived from commuting @ 180 miles a day for 1/2 a year over the same route. The mileage mix was 150 Interstate & 30 local. Thanks, Greg ~~~~~~~~~~ c3wannabe, want to do it once & be done with it. Hopefully I get another 200k+ out of it as well. Ya all have a good one.

I've done more than enough overhauls to know what is involved. I'm not talking about a "backyard re-ring job" either. That would come in at less than $500. If you can't rebuild a 4.3 Chevy yourself for $1000 or less, you are doing one or more things way to expensively. Sounds like you might be spending to much money for some things. We are talking about an engine which shares many parts with the small block Chevy, not...

C3, I dropped a 350 into a mid '80s 2wd blazer and had none of the problems you mentioned. If it was 4wd it would need a different oil pan and a original model with 4.3 would have been even easier. But for a daily driver the 4.3 is just fine in a S/T truck, IMO. Now they do make a fun second vehicle if the engine is not stock!

There is a plug in the fuse bank under the dash that you can pull out to silence the seat belt chime as well as the keys in iginition chime.

Well the seat warmer relay is under the dash on the drivers side firewall, there is one black nut that holds the cover on. But that may not be the issue. I have seen the heating element itself fail in the seats more than a bad relay. I know Dorman Corp. sells replacement heating elements fairly reasonable.

There was a major change in '07. ULSD required for the particle filter plus a 'burn off' cycle to clean the filter. Then pee in '10. If it were me and I had a '06 DMax/Alli. I would keep it to 300k miles or more. No way would I trade that truck in.

2-inches is too much to try to get out of cranking-up the torsion bars. You're going to need to find a different method.

Those are there to stay. It's part of the hub. Your new wheels should come with a cap that covers that hub, and will look fine. That's part of having an HD truck.

Check out some of the large GM dealers, they give really good prices on new GM long blocks. Couple that I can think of are Scoggin-Dickey, Pace. Installed a 5.7 Vortec for a friend and ordered a new motor from Scoggin-Dickey and even with truck freight it was a few hundred dollars cheaper than any local dealer. What state are you from? Others might know of a larger dealer in your area.

Pull the box. Unless you have a 5th wheel plate or some add-ons they come off easy. 3 people make it nice, done it with 2 and some sort of lift is even better.

With good maintenance, you should easily get more than 200,000 miles. I have the 6.0, and I have over 140,000 on mine now. No leaks or smoking going on. Still a solid motor.

I had a similar problem with remote start on my '98, except the truck wouldn't start either way. IIRC, it turned out to be a bad relay switch within the remote start electronics. (It was almost 10 years-ago though.)
