Driven V6 version at work. Good for about 1800lbs payload. More a "Lifestyle vehicle "than the Ford Ute.

HD trucks have had lower HP ratings for years. The ratings are for continuous use. For EX: A 260HP vortex in a K1500 will not be able to continuously run at its max HP level. However a 3500HD rated at 240HP is designed to run at max power for long periods. Most HD engines also have sodium filled exhaust valves while the 1/2 ton models didn't. Sodium valves good for heat, not so good for sustained high RPM. Even the new 360HP diesels do...

Makes sense to me. The Superduty I used to maintain had insulation around the batteries - heat must have been an issue. Peak torque on both 6.0L motors is the same and developed at the same rpm. Must be that fully loaded, the higher GVWR dually and chassis cab generate more heat.

I wish they sold them here as a modern day version of the ElCamino. Not the most useful machine but it would satify many here as most don't haul much other than garden supplies and garbage. That ride would get you to the dump and back really quick !

Haven't seen the Ram or Jeep commercials yet. I did see a GM commercial where the GM truck was pulling out a dodge and Toyota together, from a mud pit. I only caught the end of it, so it may have been a ford and a toyota, couldn't recall, and couldn't find it on youtube. It's a new commercial, and I believe the ford or dodge, was trying to pull out the toyota and got stuck, and the GM pulled ...
