The Canon 5D Mark II will ship next week. Interesting to see what resolution figures it puts up.

Well, I had voted "Don't own a D-SLR.". Thought I'd now post an update, since I just received a Pentax *ist D a couple of days ago.

I voted for Canon... but I use both Canon (mine) and Nikon (the girlfriends) and find really no difference in quality so it would be hard to say which is a "favorite"....

For manufacturer I would say Nikon because they're in the top two in the marketplace. Sony are somewhere in the top 5. They make good cameras but I follow the crowd. The D80 has now been replaced by the D90. The D60 is a simplified D80 with some updated components. I could make a case for either: D80 advantages: - better viewfinder, really big and clear - more focussing points, better if you want to do sports and have the camera follow...

The D80 also is able to use non afs lenses and retain auto-focus.

Hi, What is your preferred Digital SLR brand? If you don't have a favorite, then what is the manufacturer of your most-used D-SLR? Responses to this thread are not necessary, but please vote in the poll. I have not seen many websites that list the most popular brands, why not make PhotographyReview.com one of the first?

I don't know the slightest thing about SLR cameras, other than my fiancee has wanted one for... forever. I've been on site after site trying to understand photography lingo and my head might explode. This is the only thing she wants, and I don't know where to start. I've been looking at the Nikon D60 and D80, and the Sony A350K and A300K. If someone, anyone could please help me. Talk ...

The Nikon D700 is rated at resolving 2350 lines. The Canon 1DS Mark III is rated at 2800 lines. The new Sony A900 is rated at 3300 lines of resolution. The difference of approximately 1000 lines of resolution seems significient. At say 16 x 20 print size is this difference detectable by the average human eye?

I have what Im sure is a common questions. I need help choosing the best SLR camera for me. I am looking for a camera that shoots well in low light situations. I am going to use it to take pictures of theatrical lighting. Thus low light, the down side is sometimes it gets bright on stage but, I would rather get a camera that shoots better in low light then full bright. I am going to edit ...

Hi! I recently bought the EOS 40D Camera with EF-S 17-85mm f4-5.6 IS USM lens kit. I'm still new to photography, especially with this digital SLR. What do you suggest should be my next purchase? A new lens or a new flash. I want to get the EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens and the Canon Speedlite 430EX II Flash , but can't afford both right now. It's one or the other. Which one would you ...

Hello.. I've always been a point and shoot user. I am now looking into getting an SLR and I don't know much. To tell you what I do know is: I was at shea stadium in the upper decks - last seat in the stadium and the guy in front of me had an SLR with a lense and he was able to zoom into the picture and it looked crisp and like he was 2 feet away. I want that. I want to take ...

I've been curious while looking at camera reviews and such, what people mean when they say "entry level SLR" (such as a Canon Rebel XS). Realistically, you should be able to take the same quality pictures, right? People are always saying that the real issue is the quality of lens you're shooting with. From what I can tell, the nicer cameras have some cool features and stuff, but not the kind ...

Im considering purchasing my first DSLR camera for the digital photography class Im taking next quarter. Main photos I would be taking are around campus and city life such as downtown Seattle. Prints arent going to be too large, from what I expect (smaller than the size of a 8.5x11 paper). My budget would be under $600 for the body and lenses. Thank you

Hello, I am looking to purchase my first dslr in the next couple months and I need input on what will be best for me. I love photography and right now I feel so limited with my p&s. I find myself missing so many moments with my 2 year old especially. My shutter speed is too slow, he turns his head to fast, he doesn't hold his smile long enough, it is just barely too slow. Plus, when I do ...
