I recently started working in the live fish department at Walmart and I bought the most adorable Betta. His name is Independent Variable. I haven't had a Betta (or any other fish for that matter) in years so I want a refresher on Betta Care. If you have any advice or good links please clue me in. I just brought him home tonight and he is still in the bowl. I have a 5 gallon aquarium that I ...

In a few months I was thinking of getting a cory for my Betta I.V. I have him in a 5 gallon right now and don't plan on upgrading. My question is one or two corys? I don't want to overcrowd but I read that corys like company of their own kind. So what to do? One cory or two? Maybe no cory I don't know I need advice.

I have been planning and saving up for so long to get a 55 gal. aquarium! It all started when an aquaintance gave me two tinfoil barbs and a golden algea eater in a little three gallon aquarium. I didn't know much about fish at the time, but it was obvious to me that that little thing was much to small for any one of those fish let alone three of them. So I bought the biggest tank I could afford ...

I was at petsmart today getting dog food and couldn't resist this guy. I named him Ghost. Right now he only comes up for air and then hides under the plants so he is hard to take pictures of. I put him in my desk tank because he didn't get along with other fish. (I have 2 platies in one 10 gallon and 3 Cories in the other) I will have to take pictures of my other betta too later on....

This is one of my 2 bettas. His name is Jackson. I found him at petsmart and he was so unique. I've had him about 5 months now. He is on my desk by my computer now so I can watch him while I browse pnp. I had several other bettas but 2 months ago some strange disease wiped most of them out so now I only have 2. I'm going to limit myself to three though. I have him on my desk and 2 10 gallons in ...

I do not know much of anything about fish..but a couple of months ago I noticed one of our goldfish was swimming upside down. I looked it up online and I guess it's called "swim bladder." And their suggestion was to feed them peas and "green foods"....I've never fed anything other than fish flakes to my fish before, but I tired it. I tried peas, and even cucumbers. I was surprised to see that it...

What happens to tropical fish when the power goes out (as in after a hurricane) and the heater shuts off? Do you guys know what I should do to keep the tank warm or do I not need to be worried?

Fin Rot? - 9 new posts
Started 2 weeks, 2 days ago (2008-08-20 05:46:00)  by Areias
My betta has had fin rot forever, and I can't seem to kick it. Water parameters are fine. I've tried two different antibiotic powders, an anti-fin rot food, I even tried a different medication in case it was something else...and the fins will rebuild themselves, then all of a sudden it regresses again, now it's looking pretty bad. I do water changes and the tank is filtered. It's frustrating me ...
