Resolution: adding veggies to...
Published (2010-01-02 14:32:00)
So, during this slow period after Xmas, it is a great time to make some soups/stews put stuff in the freezer. Have you gotten around to adding any veggies to your dog's food? (The easiest way is to just buy frozen chopped leafy greens like kale, spinach, collards; pour a cereal (6 oz bowl) add some water or chicken broth & microwave 2.5 minutes & serve directly on top of the...

We found out today well hubby did that the sprain he got was from the needle aspirate they did on the lump around his elbow area. He had swelling all up his leg I felt his muscle pop up. He got it done at vet on wednesday morning and then I went back to work at 2:00 pm and when I came home at 7:00 at night I notice he was hurting and he was crying a little. Thursday he was really bad. All I could do was to give him a pain...

Shorty's in trouble.
Published (2009-12-31 14:09:00)
I guess part of the problem is, when I feed him or play the games he does what he is supposed to. Most of the time. I can feed him, take the bowl away, hand feed him, put my hand in the bowl and in his mouth. Most of the time I can take toys away from him. But when he steals Chris' stuff there are problems. He won't give in and my son has told me this is a Shorty problem not a Chris...

The first of January is a time for contemplation for me. I remember the good and bad of 2009 but also set my goals for the new year. I thought it would be nice for all of us to add names to this list of our dear friends who passed away this past year. 1) Ms. Kitty, our 25 yr. old rescue Main Coon cat. Well, I can't imagine using it for any of mine. THEY can certainly use the great outdoors! My s-i-l, however has elderly Bischon's. They are notorious to begin with. Now Birdgette may have Cushings, and Truffaut has cancer. I decided it actually might help, for real, in her situaltion. Lucy Rottn's Rave, Sable, and Stetson! I think what your vet was referring to is Mast Cell Tumor. These come with age in many Weims and my present girl has had numerous ones removed throughout the past several years. Hers, luckily, have been no more than Grade 2 (Grade 4 is the worst with poor to guarded prognosis). Since my girl's MCTs were all removed with wide margins, per the biopsy, I opted to do no treatment and she is 12.5 years old...

Ask your vet about post dated checks. Some will do that. Cancer grows fast, but if you can't do it you can't. (((hugs)))

My most sincere opinion is you crate the dog when you aren't watching him closely. Once he bites the child it is too late to be careful. If I had to, I'd put a basket muzzle on him when he is loose and child home. Yes, I am sure your stress is affecting him but so what? Bottom line is making sure the child is safe. (((hugs))) I know it's all hard on you....

WOW .. what opportunities and pretty darn good at anything he does, too! Sounds like Rory keeps you on your toes! My friend *has* a lure coursing machine .. I think I'll let Slate try it out, when the weather breaks. You've given me an idea, ...
