If you have someone that can help you, it's easiest to have one person cradle them while the other clips. Otherwise, just work with them as best you can even if it means doing a few toes at a time. As for treats, plain cooked chicken is great but you can try getting some good organic cat treats too. Try to stay away from the your normal name brand ones, they are full of junk and really bad for their stomachs at this age.

A few questions
Published (2009-12-24 21:26:00)
Ok, thanks. I was gonna hold out for a while to change their food, but today after a poo that stunk up the whole house I decided to start the change over - I just put a few bits of the new food in, and they went straight to those bits, so thats a good start. Are they too young to have a raw chicken wing?

Is it ok to let them out?

It takes a while to get over bad food. I had a group early last year that had been fed litterally junk food, bologna and other sandwhich meat. I had a horrible time with those guys. Kittens bond fast but keep in mind that for the most part they also seperate easy when they are adopted.

Tail Quiver

I have both a male and a female who do that, and have had others in the past. I have had to conclude that it is not related to marking exactly, it's just something they do, a posture, when they are communicating.

I hope someone can help

We first saw them as little furry hamsters around August 20th and then they were moved somewhere else in the yard and then we removed them on September 7th. Im not as familiar with the growth of kittens so I'm not sure how long it takes for them to go from birth to fuzzy hamster? Maybe you could narrow down approx. birth?

At 5 months, it's likely they aren't false positives. You can test them again in about 3-4 weeks, but I'll wager they'll still be positive. If so, try your best to have the mother caught and tested (oh, and spayed would be great!).

My cat is losing her claws
Published (2009-12-18 15:43:00)
My Niele is 18 years old and I found one of her claws on the scratching mat and then I found one on the carpet I have found three in total and I'm wondering if this is serious or just something that happens when they get older. Can anyone help me with an answer? Mahalo kokua, Sam

If it's just the outer shell of the claw, it's nothing to worry about. If it's the actual claw, as in the entire claw, root to tip, that has been pulled from the cat, then you should see a vet. But I'm guessing it's just the outer shell, yes? If so, yes, that's normal.

Many cats are very vocal during play. Squeaks, peeps growls and hisses don't usually mean much. Check him over and make sure he's not getting hurt. Trim their claws weekly, to help prevent inadvertent injuries.
I wouldn't interfere just yet. He does need to learn to hold his own, and let her know when she's too rough, and she needs to learn how to hold back.

There is a commercial cleaner you can buy specifically for cleaning concrete. I don't remember the name of it but I know I've purchased it from Lowes before. You have to apply it numerous times if it's really bad.

Kittens can show false positive results on both FeLV and FIV tests, the younger they are, the more likely it can be. The false positive results come from the fact that the kittens still have their mother's antibodies in their system. The general practice with the rescue I foster for is to re-test at 6 months. I hope this helps.

How old is the kitten?
Cats are generally very clean animals, and almost come litter trained If she's peed on the carpet already, you need to get something to clean it, to completely get rid of the smell, otherwise she will continue to pee there. Find something designed to clean animal pee/poop.
Also, does she have free run of your house? If she does, it's possible she can't get to the ...

Welcome to PL!
Your kitties are very, very pretty.
As for Zoe, I think you should bump up the vet visit. You need to rule out any health issues before deciding it is behavioral.
Please be sure and update us and let us know how things turn out.
