My one dog used to slip his head under and through some of my chain link. He'd have wounds similar to Chica's. Check you fence for breaks, stretched areas, broken pieces, wire ends sticking up, and any bothered dirt under the fence (from digging, etc.). Doesn't look like teeth to me either.

horrifying story!

I honestly don't know if the pup lived but chances are with as long as she was probably at home that way and the time wasted yanking on the pups leg and then driving at least a half hour to 45 minutes to the emegerncy vet I would hope the poor thing didn't have to live out the rest of its life with that woman on three legs. I just can't get over how my reaction confused my coworker, she acted as if my reaction was overboard and...

Yeah! Enchante has her splint off!
Published (2009-11-23 00:25:00)
I thought I would provide an update. Both Anisette and Enchante are healed to the point where you can't tell anything was ever wrong with them!! I am so pleased. Neither favors her leg anymore. Both have their muscle mass back. They can run and jump and play. It is amazing how well they healed. At some point, Anisette will probably need her other back leg operated on since it also has a luxating patella. After this experience, I would not...

Thanks Emily, i hadn't thought about that, and Roxy's collar is the kind with a big metal ring.

That is just too cool. No pun intended. We live in the deep south so the only time we see snow is when we forget to defrost the freezer. Maybe I could set up a wagon or something. I have a Saint now and they're supposed to be really good at pulling. Kudos to your fun experiences!

In my opinion, that would be sit, wait, stay, down, come, off and leave, but I'm sure others will come in with some more opinions. Good luck with training Einstein, Pip

I generally just hand wash Rosey's collar in the sink when she has a bath... it would drive her INSANE if I tried to put it through a wash and a dry, she will not move if she does not have a collar on lol

They are uniform but do not look deep enough for fighting punctures to me. When my brother in law's boys get into it the wounds are very deep and elongated and not nearly so unifrom.

Definitely get her to a vet ASAP! She could've picked up a parasite from the stream and the quicker she starts treatment (if needed) the better off she'll be.
Welcome to Petlovers, sorry it is under these circumstances though.

Yes a dog will know if he is not liked.
What do you mean the boyfriend penalized your dog? I don't like the sound of that.
I'd trust my dog's judgment and rethink the boyfriend, frankly.
However there are some very knowledgeable experienced dog people here who can probably help with training advice.

EDIT: This is not an issue of a well-fitted collar. It is a matter of using collars without clasps on them to allow for easy removal from the neck. The collar in the following situation was fitted properly. The dog pictured above is not the dog that died. It is a picture of a totally unrelated dog from a shelter. It is just a picture to illustrate the type of collar I am talking about. In ...

So I help a blind man by walking his dog a few times a week for him. Usually the dog is walked on the harness and that is his cue that he is working. So yesterday he had to go get his booster shots. I thought it would be a nice treat if we went to the park on the regular leash after He loved it! He is 5 years old and has never seen any of that kind of stuff before! There is a lake at this park ...

I've been working with sassy on her tricks and we have since mastered:
Sit, shake, other paw, sit pretty, and lay down. We have also mastered sitting infront of the door instead of jumping on it when we come inside, and the wait/go ahead command for entering the house.
I've always wanted to teach my dogs to roll over and I have like, no idea how to go about it.
so far I tell her to...

That's sweet, so it was a table lamp? I love table lamps! Around here (and by that I mean 30 minutes away) the bet place to go was this trading post that was in what should have been an abandoned old factory, it had everything from 1930's stollers to official navy peacoats, just whatever they found from estate sale donations. I found so much crap there for so cheap, it's amazing what people just ...

Oh, that's great! She'll get the muscle back, it'll just take some time. It doesn't seem like it's been that long since we were first talking about her and the injury!
