as for the primary guide, could this be an aspect of your own individuated consciousness, such as your higher self? my understanding is that a higher self is not really in the same class as spirit guides, but the other fine ladies speaking up here would probably know that better than i would.

Interesting point. I don't think so. I am certain he is my primary guide since the first time I properly met him was in a spiritual dream. When I did a John Edward meditation, he was who I saw as my primary guide. When I did a Andrea Hess Higher Self meditation, it was a different person (who looked like me) but with a different energy.
