Is worrying always negative?
Published (2009-11-14 10:06:00)
just about any question that includes the word "always" will get a "no" from me. there will be exceptions. if excessive worry spurs us into action, that can be positive. but if a person simply sits there fretting about a hypothetical, that just creates more heavy emotional energy in my view. and if we can't really do anything to prevent the outcome we're concerned about, to me it seems like energy...

What a coincidence: I sometimes have a voice like that too! I think we all have, at least with some people. It can relate to feeling inferior to them or not being happy with your life/job. One advice, which I've been giving a lot lately, is look into CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). It has some interesting techniques for changing your self-talk. I use them a lot for myself and with clients and they're the most effective tool for...

Is worrying always negative?

Worrying always has a positive intention, but someone said that 90% of what we worry about doesn't happen, so it's usually got a negative outcome.

First off, I can almost guarantee that most (or all) of your guy friends have some sexual interest in you. That doesn't necessarily mean that their only intention is to sleep with you, though. In fact, that might not be their intention at all, but rather just something they'd be open to. I'm a guy, and while I do have an attractive female friend that I've no interest in sleeping with, she's ...

the main reason i wrote this thread is to ask you all, is my life worth living?
The short answer is a definite yes. You're going to feel a lot of emotions, so be patient with yourself. First, there's no need to tell anyone in your life anything... only do that when you're ready and only when it serves your best interests.
Second, connect with some ...

Hmm... I can think of one right now, and it's about public speaking: me being in front of 200 people, talking about success, and having every person in the audience looking at me. Knowing that I have an open channel of communication with all those people and I can influence them with structured sounds that come out of my mouth. Awesome. What can I say: I love public speaking.

Could you give an example?
IMO, worrying too much is debilitating, it's fear based.
What could help you achieve greater results is a bit of adrenalin rush, but not in terms of being afraid, it's more of a feeling of expectancy. That's at least how it sometimes works in my case.

It's your gremlin speaking -- your identity-level limiting decision getting reactivated. When you disconnect the limiting decision, you'll be transparent to anything and everything anyone might say to you -- you'll still be able to HEAR it and respond appropriately, you just won't be at the effect of it anymore. It won't push your buttons.

I'd say, start with examining your thoughts and your internal dialog. Look fr negative, irrational and dramatized thinking. This is in my perspective the only think that can make all around you look dull and unmotivating. Reality is not that way, it's just your interpretation.
Do this and who knows what you'll find in there? Then, like in a lot of cases, it's probably a mater of changing ...

yes i have dealt with avoiding conflict. i don't like how it feels in my energy to get in verbal or physical arguments. but i also don't simply do nothing if i feel mistreated.
i think the key is to make small steps. sometimes things can be worked out without direct conflict, sometimes not. also, how to best deal with avoidance of conflict depends on the reasons for avoiding it.
if we ...

Yep, it's hard for some people to understand the idea of being happy with "no reason" just reminding me.. makes me happy
The idea is we all need to channel our 5 year old selves and will all be just fine

How do you handle frustrating situations?
For example, today probably was one of the most frustrating days I have experienced.
I am a dog walker and I was just exiting out of the driveway from my last client when I misjudged the cement and landed in the small ditch beside it. My axle was grinding against the cement and and the tire had no friction.
So I was stuck. While I was ...
