Starting a Personal Growth Blog

You should write out a long term strategy or plan of getting traffic and monetizing. Steve's website is somewhat unique in that instead of relying on SEO, he relied totally on inbound links from other blogs. There's something called a snowball effect in creating a good seo'd website; well, Steve did the snowball effect only with inbound links instead of SEO. If you are going the inbound link route, you don't need SEO per se...

PayPal Screwed My Business Partner

I forgot about this thread and I saw some recent comments. I wanted to provide an update... Brad made a post on his blog about the situation with paypal. A VERY large tech blog picked up his feed and his story started going viral. It must have hit Paypal's radar at some point because someone from their office actually called Brad's head office offering to resolve the situation. Within a few days, he was able to resolve the issue and...

The big colorful banner actually distracts me from your arts. The site is too cluttered, confusing because of the banner. I think the banner should have flat color with text, or at most it could have a color gradient.

Sounds like the Google Cash scam. I believe they put you on an autorebill thing for like $60 per month and make it difficult to cancel. Pretty shameful, and unfortunately quite a few affiliates promote it I believe.

Wow Brendan, you have talent! I like your artwork...
I have a couple of small suggestions to make. I think that a website to show artwork should be minimalistic, so the attention stays with the art. With that in mind, I'd go for an all-white background (lose the grey and yellow areas).
Your logo needs to be consistent (its red and black at the top, and all white in the main image). As ...

I only used Wordpress so I can't compare it to any other service, but I can tell you it is amazing.
You would better chose a domain name that includes some keywords, such as success, motivation, efficient, growth, habits etc. But only if you can find a name you like. Use dashes between words if the name is longer, but try not to use more than 5 words.
Research the major hosting providers ...

I agree with you, Curtis. I'm sure some bloggers have "faked it" and succeeded, especially back when there was little competition, but the vast majority will not. It's like you said -- if you don't have personal experience, then you sound like everyone else.
I addressed this issue a few months go in a post called " Too Much Information!" Basically I was whining about how there are too many web ...

Hi all
I have two SBI sites in the works (see my signature) and now earn my primary income from them. I started out in March 2008....
Feel free to ask about the process if you are considering starting your own hobby site. And if you're already an SBIer - please share your secrets with us!
My first tip is something I learned outside SBI, from a web developer colleague. But it ...

The easiest? Probably winning the lottery. All you need to do is buy a piece of paper. Then again, that involves a lot of luck (but you just said "easiest").
Of course, even easier would be to be born into such a rich family, but then you don't "become." Probably another really "easy" way to become a millionaire is to simply receive the million+ dollars (e.g., from an inheritance).
You see...

Let me add one additional comment.
I am not suggesting that you IGNORE on page optimization because I still believe in it. It just has very little importance compared to link building.
The rule I follow for on page optimization is I choose 3 key phrases that I want to optimize for and make sure they exist in my title tag. Then I spend 50% of my time link building for key phrase 1, 30% of my...

Hey Paul,
I really like this post. You are putting yourself out there and showing all of us that you are committed to doing what it takes to get your business going. Sometimes just declaring your goals in a public forum will be the one forcing function that takes you over the top.
Can you share more about your talents and areas of expertise. Judging by your offer, it sounds like you have ...

Hi Scotty.
I just started my blog yesterday so be warned, its still in its infant stages. The link is in my sig. I would like to develop it into a useful resource for younger people to learn about financing and personal growth. I can't believe how many of my friends are launched well into their careers and still remain clueless about financial matters.
My blog will chronicle my ...
