Questionable assignment?

I can't agree or disagree. I don't know Sally's children or how the whole thing came up, what exactly was discussed, etc. I think a lot of things are inappropriate or wrong to discuss with children or that happen to them. But it does. I doubt the conversation Sally had with her children are going to affect their lives in the long run.>> I doubt it will either, but why aren't you on Sally's...

I didn't see Sally tell Marla anything. She ASKED why she would shy away. Big difference in her TELLING Marla, than asking her about it. You people are TELLING Sally that what she did was wrong. All Sally was donig was wondering why she wouldn't talk about it. Marla answered, and that made sense. Sally asked, and now she's all of a sudden "telling" us what to do? LOL Seems like everyone is telling HER what was...

>> *Sally* is the one who mentioned the victim consenting to having sex with the adult, and I thought we were talking about something very different than plying a child with alcohol and raping him.>> She said her kid ASKED if it would still be rape IF the 14 yo consented. I don't think she meant to imply that was the case in this situation, but it did come across somewhat that way, Wolfsong...

I didn't see Sally tell Marla anything. She ASKED why she would shy away.>> I think it was a stupid question, and snarky in a way. Why wouldn't you avoid the "nasty stuff" with an 8 year old? Big difference in her TELLING Marla, than asking her about it. You people are TELLING Sally that what she did was wrong.>> Because she was,...

I took it kind of the same way Sally did. A rape of a 14 year old IS violent, is it not? Rape is pretty much violent. ~ Well, that depends on the scenario of course. A 14yo freshman having consensual sex with her 18yo boyfriend is a rape according to law. But that doesn't mean it's violent. MARLA

It is easy to put someone's posts on hide. I ask my kid's to put posts on hide when someone posts F*** on their wall. You can do that with a poster so you don't have to read their posts anymore. I have done it with two friends and there are a few more I would like to add. With the changes last week, a lot of people's photos became public. Most of...

I'd tell the teacher what we'd found, say I was uncomfortable having my kid write about a guy with that track record, ask for another name, and apologize for the inconvenience. :) Mel

>>Finally! A public smoking ban in Michigan! Yippeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!>> Congrats. We have great laws here regarding that. Now I have a freakish problem--phantom smells! started last weekend. I smell smoke when there isn't any. When it lasts long enough, I get the other symptoms I would if there really was smoke (headache, watery eyes, queasy). It is bizarro. I thought I was ...

She's totally lucid again, eating again, laughing, cheerful, hopeful. It took a *lot* of testing, some of which was rather invasive and painful, a lot of medication, and one long, scary surgery. But she's better. Much better. And we're all very grateful for the wonderful turnaround. ~~~~~~~~ Thats great to hear, Marla. Lovely early Christmas present, no? Now I really don't know how to ...

I think it's pretty pitiful that this is such "news," and that people are so wrapped up in celebrities' lives that they feel they're entitled to know his personal business, despite the damage that might cause to his family. Mel

Question - is it on US to pay for the whole dinner because they are guests even they invited themselves to stop by? As I said, she's not even a close friend but she's nice and she doesn't even know G that well either. Right now, I'm getting pretty tapped out right now - the cat bills (600 in a month), finally paying for my insurance, and xmas presents. It's certainly not going to break me though...
