MOssberg 930 SPX Shooting to high
Published (2009-11-28 12:19:00)
I have a MOssberg 930 SPX with the LPA rear sights and fiber optic fron post. The gun is all stock. I could not get it to hit on a piece of printer paper at 25 yards yesterday with value pack Remington slugs. I have the rear sight cranked all the way down and it is still about 12" high. Has anyone else had issues with this? Does anyone have suggestions on what to do? I know some people have had issues with canting on the front sight...

Yeah, I through it in the chamber, I didn't seat it or anything. The shotgun is fairly new, within a year old, no more then 1000 shells through it.

We have them on an 870 and a 1100, work fine with our dots. Mount it and shoot a few rounds then go back and snug it again. Like the red dots for low light as the crosshairs sometimes fade into the brush.

I'd want more then two rounds without reloading, but a double barrel .410 is better then nothing. Probably make a decent squirrel gun too. As far as the rail and other crap...just a "tacticool" gimmick as far as I'm concerned.

Don't know why the gun went off, but this is an example of why firearms of any kind should always, always be pointed in a safe direction, whether you're holding it in your hand, picking it up, or putting it down. Guns are mechanical devices, and can malfunction. Good for you for keeping it safe.

Very cool. I too had a fantastic day with my son. I was gonna post my own thread but when I saw this one I thought I'd add to it. I hope you don't mind. My buddy and I took our sons to the range today. We started with some trap shooting. I haven't done it in 20 years and was very rusty. The boys did not shoot the shotguns. We only had the 12ga guns with us. The boys did shoot the ...

The 1911 date confuses me as Ithaca purchased Lefever in 1916. I will assume that the 1911 date is a patent date. There should be a model on the shotgun somewhere, most likely a Nitro Special. Ithaca did continue making Lefever Sidelocks till about 1919, These are hard to find and valuable especially in the higher grades. In 1921 Ithaca started production of the Nitro Special which was a boxlock,...
