Sig 1911? Current owners?
Published (2009-11-08 21:33:00)
All of the Sig 1911's I've handled had pretty gritty triggers, and sharp edges. I don't care for the radical lines on 1911's...but that's nothing more than a personal preference. Would you buy THAT 1911 if it was made by a company OTHER than Sig? It's a series 80 gun, with an EE, and not much hand fitting. At $1200, I'd look hard at either the SA TRP, or the DW Valor. Or just a used semi-custom.

Taurus Pistols
Published (2009-11-08 02:31:00)
Don't know of many Taurus failures. I personally think they are ugly, but that is MHO. They do have a good warranty, however, turnaround seems long, from what I have read.

Any of the airweight J-frame Smith's. Keeps the weight to 15 oz. (unloaded). I prefer the 638 - but that's just me. Adios, Pizza Bob

Glock 30: How and Where?
Published (2009-11-08 02:41:00)
This could have gone in the carry section, but since it involves the pistol and I'm not sure how I want to carry it yet, here she be. I got a Glock 30 and I love it. I have a single stack S&W that disappears IWB when I need it to, but with winter coming I'd like to expand my horizons. Holsters seem pretty limited for the 30. So, who carries a G30, where, how, and in what holster? Thanks!

PA Pat, Thanks for the info and links. I've been to the PA State Police website, looking for a direct link to the firearms division. I've also been to ATF's site. I'm looking for contact information to the firearms technical branches of both state and fed so I can get a "go ahead and build it" in writing. A quick look didn't steer me in the right direction. I have the Beretta M9 which is basically the 92 just with some appearance changes. I don't know how big of a person you are, but it would be very difficult for me to conceal the 92. Having said that, it is extremely reliable, eats anything I feed it, and throw the 9mm quite accurately. I can only speak on the Beretta since I have no trigger time on the Sig, but I do enjoy the Beretta quite a bit....

I just checked my G27 for a smiliar issue and I couldn't find it to be like the one your showing. I looked at my girlfriends dads G26 and his spring does work it's way a little closer to the end of the guide rod like the one your holding but not quite that much. He carried his as an agent since the 90's so his has some rounds through it. He said nothing on the gun has ever been replaced. Let me ...

I was out shooting this morning with my main CCW G19 and my Sig p226 BW Tactical. I'm starting to group the glock pretty well (at least all 15 rounds were on a paper plate @ about 20 ft) but I can't get more than 50% on the paper with the Sig. Most of them are at least 12" low etc. The gun is brand new and I'm not a great pistol shooter, but even bench resting this thing is not on target. Should ...

I wouldn't pay more than $300.00 for a Kel-Tec. Really, I probably wouldn't even pay that much. You should be able to find one for about $250.00. Johnston's in Croydon. Classic Pistol in Southampton. Ready Aim Fire in Bristol. Mike's Gun Shop in Levittown. Surplus City in Langhorne? Trevose? Feasterville? Not sure which town, it's on Bustleton. I'm sure there are quite a few ...

Pretty simple here in PA. Go to gun store, pick out pistol, pay for pistol, fill out paperwork, take pistol home - assuming you are 21 and don't have a record - it should be that simple. EDIT - and welcome to the board.

DC, Glock has changed the guide rods in the sub-compacts. The plastic has been changed to a zytel composite, because of failures like this. The new recoil spring assemblies are marked with a number "1" on the end to indicate the newer version. I would just buy a new stock assembly and call it a day.
