If we're protected by law and law enforcement officers, why do people get killed by criminals? Why are there shootings in shopping malls?

Either way it's a tough decision to make in a short period of time and under a lot of stress.

Limpwristing happens when the pistol's slide does not cycle completely from the force of blowback acting on the breech face. This happens when the person holding the pistol does not grip the frame firmly enough for the slide to travel all the way to the rear. The problem is particularly exacerbated with very small and light pistols where the majority of the slide cycle retardation is provided by ...

First priority is to make sure family/loved ones are safe.
Second priority is to evaluate situation
Most likely I would then seek to take action because I find it difficult to just "stand by"....my upbringing and training make it so.

Its an out of battery detonation. You can see he doesn't pull back the charging handle far enough. despite him hitting the forward assist twice it wasn't enough. Overpressure caused magazine failure.
At least that's my 3 cents (adjusted for inflation)

I have Champion brand safes. A big concern of mine was fire protection, and these are rated to keep the inside under the temperature to char paper after 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 hours in a 1500 degree fire. They have a good thickness of steel and good sized locking bars. They weigh about 900# apiece. Hope this helps.
