i never said you said they were factory terms - i merely said they were misnomers - you stood on them being the "official" terms - they are not as or the "vast majority" i think you are a LONG way off from proving that one, as there are over a million porsche owners worldwide, but it really doesn't matter - the point is that i am still correct as for my punctuation, if you refer to the use of dashes rather than...

Speed and Reference Sensors

Yes, they tell the computer the position of the crank, so it can fire the injectors and spark plugs. If the computer gets no signal from the sensors, it kills the fuel pump (something about burning to death in a 100 PSI gasoline fire).

The first 968 pic I laid my eyes on was a "PINK" one, pretty sure it was a cab feature in "European Car magazine" my bible at the time.

trick for rear wiper wiring?
Published (2009-11-30 22:33:00)
Go to your local hardware store or better your local tool supply store and get an electricians pull strap/wire - with this you feed the pull strap/cable through the bottom of the tube and attach the wire (one or more at a time according to ease of use) and pull thew wires through to the end use. These electricians pull strap (As I call them) are a flat thin wire designed to pull wires through conduit for the tradesmen - also talk to an...

At the very least, if you must start the car for any reason, remove the balance shaft belt first -- it's not strictly needed, and it's not doing you any good at the moment anyway. OTOH, if it breaks and causes the timing belt to jam or break, then you've got a lot of additional expensive trouble.

HELP with my 944
Published (2009-11-30 18:51:00)
If you loose time on the camshaft, yet another way is to pull the #1 spark plug (front of motor) and triple ckeck #1 piston position with a long screwdriver with the shaft wrapped in some duck tape so you won't mess up the plug threads. Slowly turn the motor until you can feel the piston at the absolute top of the stroke. Be careful, do not insert further than about 2 inches so you don't contact the cylinder, and also you will need...

If the fuel lines are not leaking, and the leak moved from #3 to #2 ---orig #3 the leaky injector, you could try to buy a single rebuilt but I think your best financial solution would be to send them to WitchHunter Performance - Injector Cleaning & Flow Testing Services or similiar and have them all tested and balanced.
Pretty fast return time and he can sell you a rebuilt if you need 1 ...

I removed the tint from my rear hatch about a year or so ago. I seem to recall there was more that one seam in it, indicating multiple pieces. Whether it was 2 pieces or 3, I really can't say, but that really is a big piece of glass.
Obviously the trickiest parts are the laft and right lower corners. Lots of wedges sliced out, seamed together to make that all work right...lay flat....

What does DOA mean? I think that Ive seen it before, but never asked. Your getting spark? Fuel? New sensors? Have you payed with the clearance of them?? A few days before I got mine running, my tach bounced, but didnt start. Few days later I screwed with the clearance, and it started up. Have you tried starting the car with the jumper in place of the relais?

Yes, and inspect water pump and all front of engine seals while you're at it.

I don't think you caused the starter click with that.
Check ground at battery and wires at starter.

Ian suggested sand paper on the rotors?
Did he suggest that the rotors should be machined (turned)?
Since you have tried 2 sets of new pads, it would seem possible the rotors need to be turned if still within spec. You can check the thickness with a simple micrometer. The minimum wear tolerance is usually on the rotor. If you are close to minimum, new rotors would be suggested ...

Thats USD$80 per lb!
How about remove the rear seats and replace with a 968CS rear tray/carpet. That's got to be cheaper in the $ for lb equation and still staying with genuine Porsche parts.
I'd be interested to hear other ideas especially keeping with Porsche parts...

Are the 996 GT2 wheels hollow spoke? And has anyone tried fitting them onto a late 944?

Some people insist on the tension tool for the T-Belt. I do mine by hand as do many others.
Not sure about the tensioner pad on the S.
Now is a good time to take care of any leaking gaskets around the rotor and the cam as well as any leaking seals in the front end. You will already be in there and the belt will be off so the cam is not really that much more work. Most people do the ...
