on most things you can get to the back side of a panel with cavity wax and the 4 foot wand on the gun thats made for it . the wand is very small and will fit up in side things like rocker drain holes . most panels do offer some kind of a little hole to get a wand in .

Paint issues - advice needed please

Well got the Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and X15(?) wax after the deck to try and at least make it look better. It helped, but certainly not a fix by any stretch. I did this much by hand and will go after it with my orbital later. One question though, it is really looking like it is in the clearcoat. Would there be any help at all by wetsanding the clear and then try to buff out?

Air compressor is large enough doesn't really even cycle that much while spraying. It is a huge dual cylinder ingersol rand commercial compressor. You won't find this one at any hardware store. The hose could likely be larger but I don't get any significant pressure drop at the regulator. The compressor is running 120-145 and the regulator is right at the gun and is set at 45 which is the max for the gun. I think problem is...

Worst case, the car has been repainted recently and they did not give the primer adequate time to dry. Paint shops will do this so that they don't have to go down to finer grit sanding to clear all the sand marks. The wet primer is swelled while the solvents haven't yet evaporated. This fills the sand marks and the car looks great when you write a check to the bodyshop. As the primer dries and contracts the sand marks begin to show...

Back in the day when clearcoats were not used yet you were actually sanding the color coat itself i.e. laquer , enamel etc. Basically the term color sanding implies that you are sanding to compound and polish NOT sanding to respray (big difference in sand paper grit).

Shane, that is a rotten Christmas present there. I'm sure you have figured out that the panels will need to be stripped bare and re painted. It is well within the realm of any competent collision shop, and should not be too expensive for a couple of panels, although a goos shop would blend into the rest if needed and re clearcoat the car. Is it restricted to the two panels ?

I saw this beautiful 911 at the Ventura Porsche gathering and asked the owner what color it was. He said either Ossi blue or Oslo blue - I can't remember which. Does anyone know the color? Does anyone know the color code? -thanks

for deck lid height at the rear cowel .you add or remove washer shims on the front bolts were the deck lid bolts to the hing . the oe bolt should have a 6mm hex head . the shims go between the deck lid and the hinge . you will see two bolts on each side it would be the bolt toward the front of the car . once to get the height to the cowel then you can get your front to back and side to side ...

If it is just those individual spots (ie 3 or 4 inch diameter circles), some dumba#$ has used a brillo pad when detailing the car. Unlikely, but it happened with me with a 740iL that was perfect before this. Otherwise, you may try buffing with a wax/cleaner. Definitely looks like it's in the clear coat. Cheers!

sand or bead blasting might damage that fine mesh. i would use methyl chloride paint stripper followed by a pressure washer.
