Hi Mike, Not sure where I'll go for dyno work, there's one at Sears Point I know, another in Rhonert Park. I just want to confirm jetting is good. The car is set up for Goodyear Radials. I've found tires already for it, just need to pull the trigger. Rob told me to idle the car for 20 minutes. I've talked with Jerry and Rich, just haven't gotten too in-depth. I guess I should. I'm planning on running the Feb 6th...

Pitting of the lobes doesnt stop the support of the rockers. As long as youre getting the lift wait until you really need to take it apart. You might look at a different oil. Bruce

Valve Keepers
Published (2009-12-25 19:55:00)
Thanks, Mike I'll stop worrying about the loose fit of the keepers. But I'm confused about custom retainers. Why might 993 retainers (in this case, aftermarket titanium ones made for the 8mm 993 valves) interfere with 3.2 and earlier cam housing? I have worried some about the rockers, because the 993 valves are shorter (the intakes, anyway) than the 3.2 valves, and the keepers are much closer to the top of the valve stem. What...

How about coil on plug? Neat...small...only primary wires to route (small wire). Available from several places...Ford...Chrysler...etc. You can buy them from your local parts supplier (aftermarket). Does away with the distributor. Some only need a single trigger to work....so you only need to have a hole drilled and tapped into the damper to get it to run. Bob

2 things come to mind ....rings not gapped enough when installed (too tight in bore)...and ring "flutter" in the groove. If the ring has too much up and down side play it can get damaged. Good luck Bob

Thats a casting number for the cam carrier. About that time the factory started using the future parts in line. The basic difference from the 930 was in the future there would be a rubber seal to the cam oil lines instead of a threaded banjo bolt. I saw it on an 88 that i did, they are interchangable until the C2 then the threads are not tapped for the banjo fitting. Bruce

I had a similar engine but with 8.5 pistons and single plug. I'd estimate it had about 230 HP with a race exhaust. I ran it for several years with "solex" cams and then changed to "s" cams. I was hoping for more power with the "s" cams but based on lap times I think it was faster with the solex cams. I reved it to 7200 with stock valve springs. With your set-up I'd use solex cams or "...

Just scored a set of 3.3 turbo heads heads in the UK port size was 38 mm , i'll have to open that up a bit, but with 49mm in, and 41 something out, in the valves department, i guess it will do , right? They already came with twin plug and mfi injector work done, so that helps too

You aren't really going to gain much by going to the euro pistons. There is more power to be had from the engine with the right cam. I would talk with John from Dougherty Racing Cams about what cam to go with. He needs to know what you want from the engine and will help guide you to which cam will work. John posts here as Camgrinder. Part of that depends on if you need to comply with ...

The air valve is between runners 5 and 6 with hose and electric connected. Other possibilities is air leaks into the oil lines, check for idle change when you open the oil cap. Spray around with carb cleaner and see if you seal momentarly an air leak. Bruce

Drive the car on the dyno a bit to get temps up.. On our dyno we "drive" the car at medium rpm until the oil temp climbs. We add load and drive against it to hasten warmup... Not sure if you can do that at the dyno you will be using Before we had our own dyno and had to rent one.... we used to drive the cars around the industrial park for ten minutes or so to get the temp gauge to ...

Sirs, We are planning to build 1969 T according to European FIA rally rules. We are going to use Weber Carburators, sport exhaust and original T heads with original valves and port size. I was planning something like 906 was. 10,3:1 compression and 281/251 camshaft. In my understanding 1969 T cylinders are iron ? Is there oversize high compression pistons available if we ...

With the 2.4 T there are several combinations available. The biggest thing is in compression ratio. The T uses 7.5 cr, E is 8.0 and the S uses 8.5, all use regular gas. Ports on the T and E are the same. Lots of the limits are set by the fuel injection. The pump can be metered differently but cost efficiency limits your throttles because there isnt enough plastic in the stacks to open and ...

The oil light doesnt comeon because the switch is right above the oil pump. Low pressure warm will improve with 20/50 oil. The concern is you have flow but pressure is the resistance to flow. Bruce
