MFI in a 930
Published (2009-12-22 16:19:00)
I would suspect it dose not have large enough range to take one from atmosphere to say 1.2 bar of boost but I am just guessing. Going MFI is going to take some work to get right and then will probably not have the manners of an EFI motor. Would be fun to do, fun on the track, and should make more HP. I loved my 2.8 twin plug and 2.4S MFI cars. However, they did not always have the best manners.

very nicely put. I appreciate your thoughtful responses, it's great to hear an actual thought vs the typical response of "my buddy had a twin turbo and it was bad a$$... turbo technology has come light years ahead and that technology has made it posible to run large single turbos on small displacement engines, but generally speaking the small twins will give the quickest response due to the things you mentioned ie: the turbos are...

Some quotes from the video: Sounds like he was generally quite impressed, but hated to admit it. "...how to get a 911 around a corner when it's going about 25 times faster than you want it to" "Krikey-Moses, that's some big big power in there" "You've got time between puting your foot down and anything happening to read a book" "I know it's polite...to look at the camera when addressing...

I've seen that before, Clarkson always bashes the 911 for certain reasons, but then compliments it for all the right ones. I find it amusing.

J, Thanks for jumping, I always look forward to your input. The new MSD isn't here yet so I haven't seen what preperation is needed to set up the MAP feature but, like you say, it has to recalibrate at some point. I would like to hear your input on leaving the vacuum advance operable. Cole

Thats a USA fuel head and injector lines not a rest of world or euro CIS.
You can tell because it is a smooth cast aluminum fuel head, it has a pulse valve for the lambda emissions system, and it has the skinny USA injector lines.
There are a couple other small diferences in the top half of the casting but it's difficult to see them in that pic anyway.
The euro head is always ...

Not exactly on topic, but my observation of the Porsche's speedo error was somewhat surprising.
This photo was taken recently on a trip I made from Denver to San Fran in a bone stock 993, except the exhaust. Tire sizes are stock... no changes to the drivetrain. This was on US-50 in Nevada (known as the "loneliest highway in America").
The point was to take the picture showing both ...

Beating cars with an antique tag is great, plus not having inspections as mentioned.

Erik,
You can get to it using a dental mirror. It is easier if you remove the OEM BOV but not mandatory. Not a fun job and I would NOT do it if the one in place is working. You think it's hard now just wait until after you change it and find the new one is leaking or some other issue.
The following picture shows the CSV below the fuel head. You have to remove the electrical connection...

Wow the bar must have a warranty . The ERP poly Bronze are not had to install . They ease the resistance of the old rubber or plastic type . Lots more $ well made I like them on my car .

All 930's have MFI, they call it CIS, ha!
I've never seen an early MFI system used on a turbocharged 911 outside of a racecar.

Do a search on Blown6... there are some that have had no issues, and there are some that had all kinds of fitment issues...
Kokeln, Garretson, Andial and even B&B are the ones that I have heard will fit with little to no effort.
