Im in the US for last 3 years now My folks back in India got a call from some credit card company asking about some past due which i dont have any idea of and There is a threat saying that if i don't pay the money they will cancel my passport by calling main passport office in delhi and make me come back to india Is this possible ??? or should i just pay the money ??

If your parents caught the name of the credit card company/ bank, it might be a good idea to call them and find out what this is all about. Nobody has the authority to cancel your passport or get you back to the country. If they call your home again, ask your parents to have them send a detailed statement showing this past due amount. They cannot just call your parents over the phone and harrass them! In any case, do not just pay the money...

I think its a problem with ALL the websites of the Indian consulate in US! I tried to open the link you mentioned and it says "certificate error: and some security certificate" kind of a notification. It can still open the link but there is a tab saying "not recommended". The same thing happened when I was trying to fill an online application for OCI at the San Fran consulate website; I just ...

Can we book air-tickets (SFO-CCU) eventhough waiting for the US passport (after naturalization) or book it with the old indian passport (it will become cancelled out by the time its time to travel). Seniors your feedback is apprecaited. Thanks

Hi, I had applied for a new passport with my new name after marriage. But the new passport is not having my husbands full name in spouse name column. Do i need to apply for a new passport ? how long does it take to get the name corrected? Please help.

You should be fine. Just tell the IO that you are there to visit your brother and his family first. You won't need any addl paperwork; make sure you have your brother's and your husband's address and phone numbers handy. Have a safe flight and good luck!

hello members.. my mother in law is travelling from delhi to chicago ( indian airlines )between 9 - 11 oct. would like to know is anybody else in the same. She is familiar with Hindi only. could smbdy tell, is there any kind of assistance she can get from the airport dept/ agency as she is flying for the first time. would appreciate your reply..
