Points taken. When I bought my F700 I didn't search here but I did research online and while I found some negative, I also found lots of positive, personal reviews. Like anything on the internet, there are haters and lovers of products so really, an internet search is about as reliable as info on Wikipedia. That said, I spoke to friends in the know and also the guys in the install bay who see these things daily and they hadn't had...

I'm not hiding behind anything. My attitude here doesn't change if you're a noob or have been here longer than me nor if you meet me in person, just ask thse that have. I'm as helpful as I can be but at the same time I'll throw a little jab in every now and then. You are correct, we never had a conversation face to face. Your argument however points out the general problem here, NO ONE searches. If you'd done ANY...

How to remove panel around radio?
Published (2009-12-23 11:37:00)
@Phil, well If you have the double din and manual A/C controls like I do, I just popped the wood grain panel out that went around them and removed the 4 hex screws. After that I just messed around with pulling the panel out and while gently trying to remove it, I stopped and tried the keys on my radio again. Because the right side of the radio came out just fine, but the left side was being stubborn. After I got part of the panel out I could...

How to remove panel around radio?

Thanks, Mike. I did the same basic thing you did today. Pulled the buttons from either side of the radio and then was able to get the keys to work. And then I pulled and pried and........... Nothing broken and I got the stupid ipod adaptor I have owned for over 2 years installed finally! Phil

Monsoon system sounds...
Published (2009-12-21 09:19:00)
Hi, thanks for reading. Years back we had some radio issues and each time the dealer just swapped the Monsoon system out because it was under warranty. In my opinion, the radio that is in there now just doesn't sound as good as the original and I could never put my finger on exactly what it was. I figured I'd post here and see what the enthusiasts have to say. Here's what I notice about the radio that doesn't seem...

I'd try to either pull off the wiring from the back of the unit to get it to power down completely for a minute and then re-plug the wiring back or I'd take the negative terminal of the cars battery off for a minute. I'd prefer to do the wiring on the radio over the cars battery wire because it may reset some things in your car.

I'm not related to the seller; I happened across the posting tonight by chance, and I know people are still looking for these. VW of Hartford has a listing on eBay for new PhatBoxes. PhatBox unit only - no mounting brackets, cradle, or cable. Still - most of that can be found pretty easily. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VW-AU...fAudioQ5fVi deo

Well disregarding your want to "fix" the stock radio, i would highly recommend buying a aftermarket stereo. After i replaced my radio the sound was amazing for having stock speakers. It may solve your future problems and improve sound quality.
