I'd try to either pull off the wiring from the back of the unit to get it to
power down completely for a minute and then re-plug the wiring back or I'd take the negative terminal of the cars battery off for a minute. I'd prefer to do the wiring on the radio over the cars battery wire because it may reset some things in your car.

I'm not related to the seller; I happened across the posting tonight by chance, and I know people are still looking for these. VW of Hartford has a listing on eBay for new PhatBoxes. PhatBox unit only - no
mounting brackets, cradle, or cable. Still - most of that can be found pretty easily.

Well disregarding your want to "fix" the stock radio, i would highly recommend buying a aftermarket stereo. After i replaced my radio the sound was amazing for having stock speakers.
It may solve your future problems and improve sound quality.

I'd advise agaist it since you want to keep your steering wheel controls.
