3.6 or 2.0T - Page 2 - Passat...
Published (2009-12-01 13:35:00)
My folks have a 2.0T Tip, wife has a B5.5 V6 Tip, and I've got a B5 V6 MT. I'm partial to my own car, but the 2.0T tip seems to be pretty much on par with it, power wise (not just on paper, but in real life driving). Although the 2.0T definitely sounds/feels a lot tinnier and weaker than a V6, it most definitely is not. In other words, a stock 2.0T is well suited to the car. You probably won't like the sound after your VR6,...

TDI Jetta or Passat

And the Jetta is a sweet car. I like the one with the 2.0 gas engine. Still good MPG and quick.

Badgeless grill?
Published (2009-11-25 11:53:00)
If you really really dont want the VW logo there is a guy i think on the vortex that didn't want a badge less with the euro plate (which is all thats avail) so he too the badgless and the stock and used a dremmel to cut out the grilles and then pieced it back together. a little risky but could turn out very nicely

If you opt for a what you call "family car", choice is 1.8T or 2.0T It will provide decent performance at reasonable fuel consumption. Put it this way - would you spent most of the time at track or cruising around city and highway 2.0T and 1.8T have more than enough power to allow easy overtaking and smooth driving. 3.6 + 4mo - sure, this one will make your 0-60 shorter and some more decibels ...

Your perceptions matter more than the official measurements, which can be gamed. See if you think it's roomier.

Neuspeed makes a carbon fiber engine cover for the b6 Passat. But do keep in mind that these are for use in conjunction with an aftermarket intake.
The only other carbon fiber item that I can think of at the moment is mirror caps.

Good morning
Can anybody tell me which logic that system follows to stay engaged or turn itself off during driving?
Sometimes it stays on a whole day with many stops during a trip, and on other occasions it turns it self off after a very short drive only. I cannot find a rime or reason behind the observed logic. Is there any?
What do you guys think?

well, I choose Passat Wagon 'cause Jetta/ Golf was smaller and had less hp. Really depends on what you do with the car. Highway / city driving, hauling stuff, etc.

Wheels are one thing, but once you have the right choice getting your size offset and stance right is also very hard!
