Fun stuff there MO and JO. Love the stone sculpture shots. Guess I'll have to add it to my SoCal ride list. I hear there are a ton of good roads around LA that I need to explore. I'll need a guide...hint hint.

Thanks, everyone for the kind messages!! Today I asked Quinn whether she had a good time. She said she did and that she wants to do some more riding. She asked us to get her a new riding suit as she's growing out of this one. We might just have to do that! Quote: Originally Posted by matthewp Absolutely wonderful story! Funny... I was going to ask how the panniers came out. Would like to see how they look on the bike. I like the matte black look - stealthy as they say. Too bad it doesn't help you sneak out of the house! But she did help you with the stencils for the panniers. Anybody who knows motorcycles will know that is a BMW. People de-badge their bikes all the time... and what happens? Everyone walks over and goes... 'what is it?' People...

Leaving Kelso and heading to Cima, the road turned into Red Top. I don't know why it was red, but the road was very clean and smooth as could be.
The Cima Dome is home to a rather large Joshua Tree forest.
The Red Top ended, but I got to ride a tree lined country road
Next stop was Nipton. Its about 45 miles from Kelso. Google says it will take an hour and 22 minutes....

Out of Occidental, we took Coleman Valley Road out to the coast, and then went a little bit north up Hwy 1 to Wright's Beach.
Between the position of the sun, a tricky turn (with little forward visibility) and the fact Doni had a car right behind her, she chose to continue past me when I made a hasty turn across traffic into Wright's Beach. That's part of the reason I feel totally ...

We made a comfort stop in Colfax in the old part of town where they have a historical building next to the now closed Colfax Fruit Growers bldg that is now a strip mall.
The reason I made this stop was in February 1951 when I went down to the Presidio of San Francisco to take my pre-induction physical and then went home to Grass Valley to wait for induction into the Army I turned down two ...
