Allergic child / what to wear

Well ...I find that anything that lets my skin breathe is best...cotton, for example. Synthetic fibres -- like Patagonia's Cappeline long underwear, while it really helps keep you warm -- don't let the skin breathe too much, and, hence, irritate the skin. Even if I wear socks to bed, that can irritate the skin on my feet because it's not breathing enough. Aside from that, also consider what you use to wash whatever your child...

I don't know... if it was me? I would IMMEDIATELY tell the mother what happened, exactly what happened, where and when it happened. These days, with texts, emails and cell phones, you can contact someone in 2 seconds. If I saw some stuff like OP said, I would text the mother right then and there and tell them what is going on, without any fear of me thinking the mother would think I abused the child. Maybe I am just being my harsh self,...

I agree Xero. I am a little confused about this whole thing. I would think if the two of you know each other well enough to exchange babysitting for such young children you would be comfortable enough with each other to talk about this.

So, I know I'm resurrecting an old thread but I think it's valid, since it's a news update to the original story - just thought everyone would want to know if they haven't seen the news. Mom fights, gets the delivery she wants - CNN.com

While we're resurrecting this thread: http://www.daytondailynews.com/lifes...gh-449036.html Quote: The shots, made by Sanofi Pasteur, were distributed across the country last month and most have already been used, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The 800,000 pre-filled syringes that were recalled are for young children, ages 6 months to nearly 3 years. Dr. Anne Schuchat, a CDC flu expert, stressed that parents...

I don't know how he came to the conclusion, to be honest. It made sense, though, because the rash started in places where her clothes aren't making contact with her skin (it's summer here, remember) and I haven't changed the detergents or soaps she's been using for a long time. Her diet has changed considerably, though. Her skin is sensitive for exposure to the sun, and it dries out easily, but she hasn't had...

I was wondering if you think it would be safe to give my 6 1/2 month old a granulate of bee pollen to make sure she is not allergic.

Rape and a forced c-section are two totally different ball games, but she has a point here: "They don't want to allow VBACs because she said they aren't equipped for emergency C-sections, but if they can't do emergency C-sections, they shouldn't be having labor and delivery at all."
Also, if I'm reading the story correctly, she has already had a VBAC at this particular hospital, but due ...

From how you describe it, it sounds like excema or psoriasis, either way, I think you should take her to the doctor. Rashes can very easily become infected, plus a doctor can you the best creams and body washes to control any rash that is likely to re-occur.

no way. I mean what's plan B? Okay, so she is allergic, and is swelling up like a balloon and not breathing...what do you then.
I think I'd let doctors do the allegry testing.

Maybe it's because it's not even 6AM yet and my brain isn't in gear yet, but I'm having trouble finding anything about this.
My daughter is 7 months old. Am I right in thinking that she's too young for the vaccine?
(I think we've all already had it anyway.)

Welcome - and consider putting an introduction out in the introduction thread (and be sure to give the rules a quick read - we have a couple that throw new people sometimes)
