I have learned a new entrant will also be able to reclaim all training and associated costs before paying any tax.

The cadet route to the RHS, regardless of whether it is via CTC or with FR, has stepped onto the front page because it is virtually the only route left open. The people who have paid out for ATPL training, had until recently, the option of wading through a company holding pool for anything up to 2 years, or paying for a TR, and getting a job with easy or FR. The folks who took the FR route shelled out 33K € for a 738 TR and at the end of line...

Actually I would think the reverse. Remember they are re-basing a 757 from LBA, therefore LBA will be overcrewed and as most of the people wanting a base transfer are from the LBA base it follows what will more than likely happen cheers sts

BMI puts 600 jobs at risk?

Quote: Leases will not be extended on aircraft when they expire in the first half of 2010, including two of the three long haul Airbus A330 aircraft. We will therefore continue to serve mid haul markets with two long-range aircraft and our fleet of A321 bmi are not renewing the leases on two out of three 330s, yet reference is made to operating 'two long range aircraft'.

Sciolists! Comete! You're making me laugh now Too many people know this PG fleet chief... lowest of the low. Simple.. He has not the correct license. The Santa Barbara pilots don't want him here. And low low tactics is his speciality. This post will soon end. Because the Latvian CAA have realized that they too have to comply with Jaa rules.

Dear Classic74.....All these unfounded remarks made by this ignorant not to mention mentally unstable Rafael767 doesn't deserve any more attention. He obviously doesn't understand how the licensing/validation process works for the respective JAR CAA's, in this case Latvia. Just for info, SmartLynx has recently been audited by the Latvian CAA with no findings regarding FCL. Several other people in this thread have taken the time...

Quote: Yes my credit rating will be screwed for the next few years, but I could not have borrowed more, or moved funds around when the cheap offers dried up. That is the big issue when it comes to IVAs. Is it all worth it? In which other trade or profession would you to expected to take out a loan to the amounts quoted and then (possibly) consider an IVA in order to get you out of the financial mess? It really is all madness for a career...

£12k??? Is that it? I borrowed the €85k needed to complete my zero to hero ATPL at Jerez in 06/07. I am currently earning in £ sterling.... need I say more (As an aside, FTE have changed their finance options to include a package sold in STG £ - and I cannot recommend this school enough).

Actually, wrong. JAR-Pilots can and do work in Canada every winter. They do get some transition training and a validation and then just fly the holiday charter stuff. The USA of course is a different thing alltogether and not a level playing field, never has been, never will.

Most pilots in the company know about this, but since they do not have en employment contract, BALPA says they can't/won't help them. You can do your own math as to whether or not they will join BALPA if they get employment in a good airline somewhere. The current management are very envious of Pikey and do their utmost to emulate his designs. Google Roland Berger report and you will see ...

Opened the letter last night, very dissapointing to hear! Been rumours around for a while now. Don't think it's critical as most carriers are cutting back everywhere. Not the first and won't be the last to cut overheads in this current climate.

Because the TGWU won't send a lawyer and a local representative to help you out if you stuff up in another country? It's a lonely place when you do, trust me. Or using a wider example because if we all did that you'd have the TGWU negotiating your pay deals, not BALPA.

In many airlines that is the case. The "norm" career path is, short haul FO, long haul FO, short haul CPT, long haul CPT.
