The 5th A380 for Qantas (MSN027) has rollled out of the outfitting hangers in Hamburg. And is looking good for a 2009 delivery. http://a380production.com/2009/11/27hr/

I think HD means no runway switching (alternation) and all landings on 27L (ie south - upwind - of the hangars). Correct me if I'm wrong, please, HD

As long as it can pass all its inspections, it can fly forever. Look at all the DC3s and DC6s still flying! We retired our oldest 747 this year; it was built in 1973.

There are dozens of excellent weather sites, including one where you can see the Heathrow TAF. Years ago they would de-alternate if the SW wind was strong to avoid turbulence off the hangars. Don't know if they still do..

Probably to do with confusing subsequent owners of the airframe. After all never buy the 'A' market of anything. Actually its more than likely made up of who, and when the order and delivery schedule was agreed. BA has 787's on order and will not take anything prior to line 55.... (unless of course the price is right).

The blogg says the pilots will parachute after setting auto pilot to crash. IIRC the previous effort had remote control of the aircraft from start to finish, isn't it a bit risky to try and jump from a large jet? Has anyone ever parachuted safely from an airliner before?

Hi chaps. I was just wondering, given current departure and arrival plates, many giving references to intersections, how to pilots of classic jets manage to follow them? Some will be equipped with INS which will obviously help, but some (like the 727 I believe) can only navigate VOR to VOR. Do they just get a little extra direction from ATC? Thanks in advance

The fan blades are connected to the hub in such a way that there is a small amount of movement (probably for thermal expansion and so the whole assembly is not as brittle as it would be if completely fixed and rigid). When the fan is spinning at high speed the fan blades are locked in place by centrifugal force and the fact that they are pushing the air through the engine. When not running,...

So am I correct in interpreting this? A plant evaded security, so the whole aircraft was returned so that he could be screened? How many other passengers had not been adequately screened, yet no attempt (if I understand correctly) was made to check the rest of the flight? Was the TSA employee allowed to rejoin the flight (or was it always the intention that he should remain at the ...

Shoulder harness release Hello. little question. I've made some flights in different cockpits (320 - Ejet190) and I've got the following questions. When turning the buckle to release the harness, I always release the lateral buckle. Is there a way to release only the harness ? thank you for your answer
