The statement : Military Status Delayed has caught my eye. Does this mean that you have an outstanding service obligation? This might be of concern to some employers if they suspect that you could be called to duty after investing in your training? Surely this statement should be either removed or clarified. I wish you luck in your job hunting. BN

We all know the economy is on it's arse. We all know the airline industry is facing a tough and protracted downturn... There are other threads talking about these issues, and poeple are viewing their opinions, and providing links to other websites as you have done to back these up. Economic issues that affect guys in the CTC holdpool, also affect any other person in any other pool, or FTO, so discuss it in one of the generic threads that...

Thats very fair. Things have changed so much in such a short space of time. Plenty of current pilots are pretty ignorant of it and assume things are still much the same as when they started climbing the ladder. Its radically different. WWW

I have a gut feeling that in the long run, the changes which are taking place in the banks, will reassure the banks that people can actually afford things with minimal risk, will result in more sponsorships coming about - but that will be once companies become healthy in themselves again and also a demand. I think that this is heading towards having both money and ability (but hasn't this always been the case; just harder to get now)....

Quote: Its interesting they're still filling the courses. Quite. It is very interesting. It must be quite a sales team they have there. You'd have to be genuinely delusional to start with CTC any time before May 2010. I wouldn't touch them yet. See what they do with their placements and then move forward or away more confidently. The first 4 months of 2010 are going to be pivotal for this company in particular, because of the...

BOF That's perfect and exactly the sort of thing I described in the other thread. I can skim read that very quickly and decide which pile to put you in. The only thing I would add is a note 'Willing to relocate', assuming you are of course. Hobbies and interests are nice if you can squeeze them in but to be perfectly blunt at the first stage of selection/filtering nobody really cares. Sad I know but true. Good luck.

In fact I haven't bothered reading this garbage at all for a few weeks. Yeah I recently applied to Proflight Zambia. At least they were kind enough to reply that I need at least 1000hrs to do anykind of flyingjob down there.
"All candidates have to have a minimum of 1000 hours total time due to Zambian DCA requirements."
It seems that most operators in Africa now require more than 500hrs even for small SE prop safari operations. This will basically cut out all ...

Do you have any achievements outside of aviation?
What kind of duties did you have in your previous jobs? What skills did you need?
Do you speak any other languages?
What kind of interests do you have outside of aviation?
The rest of the stuff seems pretty good.

I believe you can get a statement of 'expected' earnings and a copy of your contract from Brookfield.
Not much use as it basically confirms that you are self employed and not guaranteed a penny during your employment. I'm not sure what the banks think of this, particularly as you say, most will already have their fair share of debt already.
Other than that, you are on your own to sort ...

I appreciate they might not yet be big numbers yet but without those not many people will give you a second glance.

Speaking purely in JAA (UK CAA) terms, (without being bothered to look in depth into Lasors) I believe that a current and valid MEIR is sufficient to be offered an airline job - obviously subject to a subsequent type rating course for the aircraft you would be employed to fly should you not already hold it.
I do however firmly suspect that if you were to go down to your local club and ...

You are posting on arguably the best e-resource for the information you seek.
Many books are written but then almost imediately out of date, as the market changes at such a rapid pace.
Good luck
