Yes OK a turbo prop has a power lever but the engine / propeller combination produces thrust, its just easier to measure power on a shaft. As a matter of interest only - not getting petty - but I looked through my old Jetstream 41 manual and it refers to engine thrust.

Ah well, was/is an interesting discussion and less we forget someone died in this accident which kind of puts the difference of opinion and semantics into perspective, but never the less, we can only try to learn from other peoples' mistakes.

The old fire T-handles have been replaced with illuminated push-switches that are located on either side of the flight director controller (basically, same place as the T-handles used to be). They have a clear guard over the button, this allows the illuminated warning to be seen but prevents accidental discharge. Functionality is identical to the old T-handles, checklist procedures are unchanged.

Hi! RwandAir is schd to get 2 737-800s, and later 2 CRJs of their own. I don't think CRJs are banned, but last time I went in there there were no CRJs, but it was late and not much traffic. cliff NBO

Sorry for the spelling mistake. Life is correct. English is not my first language, it would be much easier for me to write in German. Yes, you're right about gross and net figures in the manuals. Nevertheless, my point was to tell that the average pilot in an average (old) plane will not meet the values given in an AFM, but will more often reach values, which are slightly lower. Flaps extended will limit the aircraft's speed (V FE -...

I'd like to get all my licenses in South Africa ( PPL, CPL, IR/ME ) and after try to find a job as Flight Instructor or come back in Europe. Depending on the circumstances... I'm interesting in South Africa Licenses becouse I could save much money due to the low life costs.

Thanks SBC. I got my info from Greek CNN, glad to hear that the case was very different to the version i got. The 777 seats are terrible in my opinion. The C404 seat was alot more comfortable but the difference is I can get up and stretch my legs in a 777 and get some feeling back in my a$$. Alternativly i get a pillow to sit on. Some rumour going around is that the seat is uncomfortable so flight crew don't fall asleep but i think...

Every airline pilot in the world who has done a conversion course to both an American and a British manufactured public transport aircraft, knows that the British employ terminologies which can be strange and somewhat confusing, probably stemming from the belief that they were the first to create the jet engine.

Well... Lagos is a very large city, with significant disparities between the very wealthy and the very poor. So, living there could, perhaps, be compared to living in rougher area of - for example - Detroit or Los Angeles.

I saw something very similar once flying over central Europe in a clear blue sky in the middle of the day.
I initially thought it was a shooting star, then I thought it was a rocket and after thinking about it and discussing it with my colleague, we decided it must have been some kind of space debris or a meteor which entered the Earth's atmosphere and burnt up.
It was like a firework.

Here is the text of the 'official' release by MONUC:

This is to inform you that at approximately 11H55, a CAA commercial passenger aircraft failed to stop on the runway whilst running landing at the Goma airport consequently crushing on to some lava rocks. You mean the Peugeot 406 crash with a hiipopotamus on the Dodoma/Mbeya road two nights ago? I do not know what happened to the animal. But the story is that the driver is missing, possibly eaten.
I wonder if this is the photo you are looking for?
