ASUS' name is synonymous with netbook laptops, thanks to its success with the Eee PC. ASUS brings that experience and success to the desktop space with the Eee Top ET2002 ($599 list). The ET2002 is a 20-inch widescreen all-in-one nettop PC with a dual core Atom processor, Nvidia ION graphics, and 802.11 b/g/n WiFi—all at an attractive price. It isn't quite as inexpensive nor as full featured as rivals; however, the Eee Top...

Sascha, I agree with you regarding what is driving the market. I also think the younger demographics who purchase smartphone have better hearing than baby boomers. Actually, call quality is not a problem for me, if I want to make or receive a call whereby I need excellent voice quality I use my reliable Motorola E815. I think other than the voice issue, smartphones are great. I use my smartphone daily and considering the Droid....

There996, I now know you're a voice quality expert because the Motorola E815 is one of the finest voice phones ever created. That phone was absolutely stellar. I bought two with my own money. Use it until it dies. If you do have to upgrade, though, there was a reason I was testing the BlackBerry Curve against the Droid; Verizon's Curve makes very good phone calls.

Verizon's antiquated CDMA network does not allow multi-tasking or simultaneous voice and data. Can't talk on the phone and check email (something the 'non-multitasking' iPhone does easily).

Great review, Sascha! Several comments though: An editing note, in the spec sheet, you list the processor clocked @600mhz, but the processor is underclocked to I believe 550, as you yourself said on PCMag Radio. You said that it has multi-touch on the keybaord, while the Engadget staff found absolutely NO multi-touch on the device, keyboard or otherwise. Is this just a defect in their phones? Last, you say the Droid's voice quality is...

Do you have any plans to carry out a review of Mobikey now that the product has been around for a while?

PJ, careful with unqualified comparisons.  For instance, I doubt that the GF1 is sharper than the D5000 or A230: what I do believe is that a 20mm prime lens (what the GF1 was wearing) is sharper than an 18-55mm kit lens (what the D5000 was wearing).  If you put a 20mm prime on the D5000 and a kit zoom on the GF1, the results would be reversed. Also, power-off-to-shot-time are very important for not missing that special...

Blah! Blah! blah! but wireless? What wireless? Was it tested on N? was it tested on G with an N router capable of G if it couldn't do N? We already have another brand of wireless AIO that has some sort of goofy G spec that only works with a G router. Speak up! Let's hear it for the winner!!

PC Magazine Discussions - Vonage...
Published (2009-11-07 19:49:20)
I am a systems integrator. I work with data, phone, TV and security systems everyday. I set up systems for colleges and hotels. I tried Vonage for our new office phone system. I could not get it to ring through consistently. Calls were not completed, some were dropped. For one week I had no phones at all. Customers would write e-mail or call my cell phone to ask if we were still in business. They would get messages saying that my number was...

Ugh. No thanks. I had Vonage for a while and found it be alright. However, when I went to cancel it I had a heck of a time getting rid of it. Long call waits on their customer service line, then their "computers were down" and no option to cancel via email or online. It took me numerous phone calls to get my service shut off. I detest companies that seem to go out of their way to make it ...
