Sorry for not responding in such a long time, I dint realize this thread was still active. I'm going to try to explain this step by step and I hope I won't lose you. Step 1: There are two types of semiconductors, n-type and p-type. In the picture that I posted earlier the n-type are the ones that are straight unbroken lines (-----) and the p-types are the ones with "--> o--" inside them. If a charge passes through the...

Okay, so we know 32-bits OS cant use the full 4gb due to other devices hogging the space, blah blah.... My question is...why can't the x86 *hardware* address more than 4GB of memory. Let's say we have an x86 machine with 8GB of memory (impossible, but let's dream). Is this impossible because the bus is not wide enough to read and write that much memory at one time?

So I've got a few hundred $$$ laying around and I was thinking about an upgrade. Not sure if I really need one or not (but I have been thinking about playing SupCom again) and I was wondering what you all think and if its even worth it to upgrade right now. Right now I'm thinking CPU + Motherboard + Ram and the budget is somewhere around $800 or less. For the CPU I'm thinking Q9550 but I'm ...

WTF why the hell would you put a hard drive in the freezer? I'm guessing he may be trying to do a fresh install and he's not used to SATA (they're SATA right?). Either that or hes retarded, trying to rip you off, or something I can't think of right now.

At the moment I'm using 2 seagate 7200.10 SATA2 250gb HDD's. One has OS, games and docs (pictures, music etc) the other one is mainly storage (films, game .iso's etc) I've run out of space, so when I rebuild my rig tommorow I have 2 new HDD's for it, a 36gb Raptor and a 160 maxtor (sata2). How would you guys arrange this? I'm undecided as to whether to use the Raptor for OS, or ...
