Fair enough - i will stress your hardware was in no danger - but i can appreciate your concerns.

barbs vs. compression fittings
Published (2009-11-08 21:12:00)
You're right WJA, apologies to the OP. If you want something a bit more special then bitspower do silver plated fittings. These can almost be justified in terms of silver being antimicrobial. It'll cost you though, and performance will be identical to cheaper ones. In the spirit of preference, 11/8mm compression fittings with 11/8mm tygon is the best

Quietest LGA775 cpu cooler?
Published (2009-11-08 00:17:00)
Can't say that would be £9.00 well spent jon! Maybe worth a punt if it was £0.00 like using an old stock LGA775 heatsink sans fan but I would imagine things could get pretty toasty unless running a low VID chip or a heavily undervolted one . . .

same here went from 3.7ghz q6600 to what i have now, sold it with a abit ip35 pro xe, for me its been a good upgrade with the cpu and board i have now. would of went i5/i7 but meant getting a new heatsink, and the true is still a top air cooler nice spec by the way setter.

Thing is Intel is allowing chips to automatically overclock. i5 750 goes from 2.66GHz to 3.2GHz by itself when needed for example. I can only see it becoming more common too. Gives overclocked speed but for most of the time, normal power consumption. Win.

Yeah, it will fit on the mobo, with more than enough room to clear the NB heatsink. The thing you gotta worry about is if it will fit in your case (is that a coolermaster 330?)

Yeah, that would work fine. The loop order doesn't matter, as long as pump comes after reservoir. Try to minimise tubing length but otherwise just make sure they're all connected to the loop somewhere.
The typhoon 3 is getting a lot of love from people. I'm not sure I trust it either though, concerned about it starving one of the loops of water.
I think single fan radiators are underused....

90's is too high. It's supposed to be an intake into the case, but the rest of your case cooling will have to be up to the job too. Push pull might work better in your case.
Has anyone mounted the rad on the outside yet? I suppose the non-detachable tubes makes this difficult.

I can't offer with regards to a new cooler, but you are aware you will likely lose your 4GHz overclock if you move to 12GB?

Two questions. How much money are you prepared to throw at silencing it, and how do you feel about pumping water around inside the case?

Nice review there. Temperatures were impressive. I may well be looking at a new cooler to replace my NH-U12F, and I wouldn't think of going anywhere else but to Noctua. This, however would be overkill for my setup, and the size (that protruding middle fan) could be an issue as you pointed out.

What are your load temperatures reading off as? As idle temps aren't really that important.

What chip will you specifically be cooling and will you be over clocking?
The Titan Fenrir does the job well at £33 - link - if you're planning on clocking the CPU and fits most flavours.

I've always done what you said with the blob in the middle and let the heatsink itself do the rest.
Everytime I take the heatsink off, the paste seems evenly distributed. Not sure what else you can do apart from measuring the exact amount of paste you put on there.

You can push the E5200 further, aslong as u stay under 1.4vcore, and that your cooler can handle the added speeds and temps.
I had my old one running at 3.75ghz 24/7, but ever cpu is different. Only go further when ur comfortable, but stay under 1.4vcore, and u should'nt have any problems.

You'd have to start hand tuning these:
CH-A DATA VREF > AUTO
CH-B DATA VREF > AUTO
CH-A Address VREF > AUTO
CH-B Address VREF > AUTO
Which is a nightmare - also keep an eye on the VTT and PLL which I notice is on Auto - too high a level here can degrade 45nm chips quite quickly. I think the guidelines here are 1.4 and 1.6 but personally wouldn't go over ~1.35 for the VTT.

Temps look ok to me, about the same as i get on my i5 load temps tho my idle temps are a bit lower at about 29 degrees.

I think it might be helpful just to post the rig in here as well, depending on what look you want, most blocks have Acetal or Acrylic tops (black and transparent respectively) This is not important to the performance, but if you look at different blocks, the main parts are made out of either Aluminium or copper, do NOT mix the two as it'll cause corrosion
This is about it for my expertise on...
