I would personally buy something like a Mondeo. I'll now explain why. At this end of the market, everyone wants a small car. They are economical, cheap to run, low tax, and ideal for new drivers. As you've seen, £3k doesn't buy much Fiesta - its going to be quite old. The same is true of things like Golfs. The most important thing about the car market is that car values are based on peoples PERCEPTION - what they THINK is the...

Aye but if you do the work yourself you could almost half that cost, turbos from the states are around £700 each, £50 each for the fitting kit, then around 500 - 600 for the intercooler kit.

It will be a automatic tensioner that cant be adjusted, the tensioner goes weak on those engines as well.
The belt wil need pulling off and replacing and the pulleys it runs on checked for play, a new tensioner wil be required if it has gone weak.

Take them to be balanced somewhere else.
Some garages simply do not maintain their balancing machines, a set of alloys with low profile rubber (I assume) and harder / lower springs will mean you are more likely to feel vibration.
My dad bought a 58 plate Saab 93 Aero a while back, it took 5 different garages to sort out a minor wheel wobble (including 2 Saab dealers), it literally was a...

The manual has got maybe 15/20 years left, IMO.
Once someone 'big' like the VAG group make their DSG something standard I reckon it could all happen reasonably quickly. It's just got to penetrate into mass market.

Lost for words. So many cars available for the sort of budget this will have cost you and you've chosen a Passat.
I really can't think of anything else to say. Love the way you say there wasn't an S4 in budget - as if the S4 was a comparable car!
What was it about the twin turbo 306bhp available cheaper 335i was so bad it made you chose a Passat?!
