Windows 7... get it, you can swich between any outputs with two clicks of the mouse, and just leave everything connected. The only issue is if you wanted them both on at the same time. A royal pain, but doable.

ohms law... I=v/r so if its driven 5v peak to peak, 5/38 = 131.6mA. a 150 ohm load at the same 5v p-p is 33 1/3mA. alot less current, so easier to drive.

Amp + DVC sub question!
Published (2009-11-05 11:25:00)
My remote wire is hooked into my power steering fuse. It ONLY gets voltage when my car is running. My amp won't even turn on unless I turn the car completely on, so no I don't listen to it with the car off. The only thing I can think of is that when I have the switch on, my car and all the electronics are turning on at the same time the amp sees the remote wire come on.

HDMI output - Sound or Video Card
Published (2009-11-10 07:08:00)
Ok. Rather than spending money upgrading your graphics card, you should be able to connect it via analog to try it out. According to this picture, you should have enough inupts. Depending on the speakers, you amy not be able to hear the difference.

Does the X-FI Xtreme Music have...
Published (2009-11-11 21:30:00)
The X-Fi XM does do 5.1, almost exclusively from the analog outputs. Itll do 5.1 over optical, but not unless the audio stream was pre-encoded in 5.1. The X-Fi XM doesnt have the ability to encode 5.1, so anything not already encoded in 5.1 will play in stereo over a digital connection. If you want to have 5.1 in everything over a digital connection, youll need a card that does Dolby Digital Live.

So 2-channel? One thing to know first is what you already have or might use along with it. Sources? (CD player, DVD player, computer and which outputs it has, mp3 player, vinyl) I'd think you're more likely to have at least some of those but also if you have any amps, receivers, or speakers say so. $400 is pretty tight even to get decent quality (not HTIB level) even if you're...

steer clear of MIDI, technology has far surpassed MIDIs usefullness. Take a look at Creative EMU product if your set on buying a sound car. For just a beginner I'd suggest heading to your local music store and picking up a PC adaptor for your synth (around 50 bucks), will plug in via USB (which is 'two way'... computer control the synth, and vise versa). Just bring the model number...

Well, after owning these cans for quite some time, I can say that they're very selective about thier source. For example, I actually prefer my sennheisers on my audigy 2 ZS, not counting the comfort factor, but the sound is crisper and cleaner on the A2ZS. As for my final analysis, I recognize all headphones are different, but in this case I can say I prefer one over the other. I'll keep the ...

Don't have to switch cables. You can buy a box even with remote that will switch channels. Most PC software says one or the other. Get a patchbox. Google.

Using optical, the sound card doesn't do DAC, the receiver does it instead. DAC on generic embedded sound cards (like that of an Xbox) are simply nowhere near the quality of even low-range home theater equipment.
