The news on this guy just keeps getting better and better. He's spent the last 14 months working at a construction firm in Osaka, living in the company dorm, saving up thousands of dollars; and even went out karaoke with them, where he sang in English. Gotta wonder how dense his coworkers were, and why they didn't notice anything when the fake name he gives them doesn't have a tax ID number...

Given that many Japanese women are bent on having professional careers, I think it's actually good that potential dads are willing to invest in their life at home. I think that ideally, the father should work and mother focus on raising her children, but it's certainly better for the father to be involved than nobody at all!

I don't know enough about written Japanese to make comments on most of it, but isn't it more polite to use 尋ねる instead of 聞く? I'm not even sure if I'm right, so don't take my word for it. It just sounds more keigo-esque to me. My first reaction was also to say that ております might sound more polite than...

I wrestled in high school, and while slapping and such didn't happen, there was yelling if stuff got out of hand, but by and large its the athletes themselves that sort of enforce the discipline. The older, more experienced one's help out the new guys but they also make sure they're not screwing around and they're doing what they're supposed to.
