Thanks Becky! I appreciate your help. FYI, my husband is currently seeing doctors at Sinai Hospital (his neurosurgeon is also affiliated with Johns Hopkins, but referred him to the doctors at Sinai because he works more closely with them). They have been wonderful but I get the impression they think they are running out of options. I am starting to feel as though they are giving up on Tim, and it really frightens me to not know what the...

It must be really frustrating and frightening to feel that way. I do hope that they find some sort of solution for him. You might want to check into this: http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/pain/blaustein_pain_center ?It sounds like they handle the sort of problem he has, so maybe you could ask his doctors about it. ?

Hi Bev, and welcome! I am so sorry to hear about your husband's pain problems. I would think that Hopkins should have a pain management clinic or specialist of some sort that they could refer you to. (I live near Baltimore, too.) I will try to do a bit of research and see what I can find.

Interesting. I wonder how the animal testing is going (went?). Edited to add: I did some searching and there is no more recent information that I could find.

Becky Hope your cousin does alright with the surgery and I hope your mom is doing ok.  You've talked a little bit about her on the board, if I remember right she has advanced osteoporosis.  Does she take anything for that or is there anything she does or can do about it? See you when you get back!

I personally find them rather annoying, but I think if I had not already had discussions about medication with my doctor, they might make me consider it.

Hi Calley and welcome! I found this information about Fosamax and GERD: http://yourtotalhealth.ivillage.com/osteoporosis-d rug-amp-gerd.html Boniva is taken orally also, but only once a month. The only advantage I see to using Boniva is that the esophagus may get more chance to recover from any irritation in between doses. Reclast is given by infusion several times a year, I believe. ...

On occasion. Next year I am slated for a complete health check-up and I'll also look into that.

YAY for her! What an inspiration to the rest of us. I started TKD a few years ago after years of telling myself I was too old. Good thing for me I wasn't able to convince myself because just a few months ago and I got my black belt and acheived a life long goal. I'm so proud of me that I'm currently in the process of talking myself into starting something else I've always wanted to do.....
