Goodness, I tried catching up on this thread but just felt like repeatedly bashing my head against my desk instead. I mean, that's what reading it felt like. And if I ruled the world TonySoprano would be in charge of the JFK investigation, Roswell and finding Hoffa's body.

Not many people hanging out here on Thanksgiving eve. I agree, nobody is untouchable, there is no such thing. But the deal as a whole has to make sense.

Willing to spend in what way? Just up the payroll or on premium guys?

I agree with Trea. It’s hard to get fired up about the franchise offering the least amount of money to a potential home town savior (regardless of the fact that he always was going to the Yanks anyways). All that proves is they weren’t willing to be a serious player.

I don't think it's exactly burning a hole in our pockets. I think we'll spend it when the right player comes along. I also don't think any of this year's FA are remotely close to being that right player, unless the market is severely undervaluing them.

This sounds like one of those trap posts where you are expecting a certain type of poster to come out swinging and making a big fuss.
Nope, I'm not biting.

I agree with the first half of your post. Getting a 3B through FA seems like the wrong decision.
Regarding Wood, there has been some discussion that creates doubt. Will he ever reach the potential that he had 2 years ago? I am always for trading for players with high ceilings, but for Wood... I am not sure we should give up too much.

I could live with that. I'd like to see you throw in a back-end bullpen guy
and Hendrickson, though.

He's not my first choice, but if the O's and Mets do want him, whoever puts the best contract on the table will likely get him, that can be the O's. He might also prefer to play in the AL and a better HR park. DHing some will be good for him.

I don't know why we've had so many threads about Gonzalez. Every single thing MacPhail has said makes it clear as day he won't be a target for us.
IT ISN'T EVEN GOING TO BE DISCUSSED BY THE O'S! I GUARANTEE IT!

This take by Schmuck just seems like a firm grasp of the obvious to me and
I am just an average Joe Fan. Nothing earth shattering to this, same as
nothing earth shattering to the poll that shows the majority of reponders
feel a number one-two proven veteran starter is what this team needs most
followed by a middle of the order proven bat. Everyone knows this and I
believe AM is on the hot seat ...
