Yeah, physical abuse is always justifiable. Just because someone makes you mad you should be able to hit them. Whatever. You can make things right about the rumor (that was wrong of course to do, but you know that). Just tell the truth. Easy. Done. But her feeling bad about it doesn't give her the right to hit people.
