Hi Laurie, My pain is all along my left side, face, back of skull, left arm and leg with some weakness and numbness. Some joint and muscle pain that comes and goes. It's true that Plaquenil can take many months to "kick in" so it may be too early to give up on it. And don't feel like a nut case because you're not feeling better yet. Everyone is different and you may need a stronger or different mix of drugs to...

I have a cardiac arrhythmia (ventricular ectopic beats) this was diagnosed well before SLE. I take Atenolol daily to keep things balanced. Apparently, this is more an "electrical" problem, rather than physical. I have low cholesterol and low blood pressure. I asked both my GP and Rheumatologist if this was Lupus related....I got an honest answer....they have no idea...I would take Helyn's advice, and ask for a cardiac...

I have all of the sudden gotten this terrible craving for salt the past couple of weeks. I mean it's so bad that I am putting salt on my 12 grain toast in the mornings. I will snack on 12 grain toast with salt on it. Does this make any sense at all to anyone? I just don't get it. Thanks for any input you can give me.

to tracy.. the doctors told my fosters that because my lupus is in the late stages, i needed a stem cell transplant because the medication more than likely won't help me. they have me on the medication as well, but i did have the stem cell transplant for lupus. the anemia group (if that's what you meant) is because of my son, he's got sickle cell. by major organ involvement do you mean lungs, kidney, liver, etc? if so,...

just diagnosed with LUPUS

In the 11 replies, no one stated the obvious: no doctor can say you have lupus from ONLY bloodwork. It is IMPOSSIBLE to make a lupus diagnosis simply from bloodwork. Plain and simple. What kind of doc was this? Was this a rheumatologist or an internist? If an internist, get yourself in to see a rheumatologist to have him/her look at your test results and to discuss other criteria you need for a diagnosis. Many old school docs make this...

Why do you think you have LUPUS?

thanks for all your replies. For me what helped is discovering my risk factors, and things that I CAN control. I now no longer work at a stressful job that makes me sick all the time. The money was mid-great but health is wealth. Now I have all the time to cook my own food and I see my doctor and nutritionist regularly. I take alternative theraphy not just rely on medications. I try not to be dwell on negative things or negative people and I...

dalesw, I have never had kidney involvement. I'm sure ibuprofen would not be prescribed for you or any one with kidney or liver disease. My point in mentioning it is to encourage people to talk with their Rheumy doc about ALL the possible non steroidal anti-inflammatory options before resorting to prednisone . Sometimes a simple solution can be the best and can be easily overlooked. The 800 mg Ibuprofen I took was coated and by...

My skin has been more dry especially my from the knee down. Its also discolored. My feet has a different shade from my legs. I know it has nothing to do with the sun because I don't show my legs or feet. I always have them covered up because of the swelling and people starring. Does anybody else have problem with their skin.

Seems that this past year has been more and more like hell, I joined this Group when this all started happening to me: Never said anything due to not knowing what was going on and that is what they thought it was at that time. Verses still no answers to what is wrong. At first they thought it was Lupus, I had some positive blood work ANA 1:16, then Back down to 1:23. Then back at 1:40. Anti DS ...

I sometimes gets so bad when I am out moving around that I look like I have been jogging. Not very pleasant. Hi, I'm new here, having been dxd with SLE and Sjogren's Syndrome recently after being dxd with Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease for over a year. I have good days and bad but today is bad because I've realized the Imuran isn't doing enough and I have to continue MTX injections, along with the 400 mg. of Plaquenil . All these drugs have made a mess of my skin and I'm still having ...

Hello to all... As some of you may have read, I have a strange form of lupus called tumid. Its confined to the skin but is different from discoid because it goes into the skin a lot deeper. Fortunately, it does not leave scars. Anyway, I went to the dermatologist yesterday and we had a discussion about Imuran , Methotrexate and other immunosuppressant drugs. We talked about the ...
