Hi Gina-- I don't know what you've read about an 'acidic diet' and cancer -- I'm sure that many of our members will fill you in on the 'natural' approach to diet and cancer.  However, there is one word of warning -- you should not be drinking grapefruit juice and taking many of the drugs used in cancer treatment mainly because the juice negates the effects of the drugs.  Be very careful and be sure to...

Good Afternoon Gina; So ... in the end ... my conclusion has always been to maintain the most natural balance in the body rather than go to an extreme one way or the other. The perfect balance is a pH of 7.235. But as usual Craig is right on the money. Extremes are NOT good. Also cancer likes sugar. Avoid it. Take care; Kevin

Hello All, It has been request by a few forum members that I post the progress of my wife since her SCT. I have been waiting to do so until we received at least two complete blood tests. My wife was diagnosed in November 2006 with MM. She was on Thalidomide for approximately 1 year, but her Monoclonal Peak never went below 65. She switched to Velcade/Dex for 6 months and decreased the Monoclonal Peak to 17. In late June she had the SCT. In...

All Kappa/Lambda Ratio messages
Published (2008-11-18 00:00:00)
Hi, mom (MM Bence Jones Kappa) is stable, her blood is fine and her Kappa has stabilised around 61. However, her Lambda is worrying - jumping from 1.5 to 2,5 and, therefore her kappa/lambda ratio can be above 300 which is not good. I have read somewhere that supressed lambda is usually a result of chemo (which mom had and which was supposed to supress kappa instead but hadn't). Does lambda ever recover back up? And what stable...

Hey Lil Sis, I've been on that same combo (along with Zometa monthly) for 8 months now.  My Docs also said to be more careful about germs.  I would say that germs are germs and if your sis is doing those things in public places it wouldn't hurt to keep them up everywhere.  I still do everything I want as far as going out I just try to make sure that I take those procautions that you said she is doing (touching doorknobs,...

Tell her to remember that money - both paper and coin - is potentially one of the very highest sources of contamination. Use of the hand sanitizer after handling money highly recommended.  She can also avoid exposure to germs from handling money by paying with checks.  If she is using a credit/debit card, she should avoid letting others handle it, and she should use a towellette to wipe it off after swiping thru any reader. As for...

Hello!  My sister will be starting her first round of oral med treatment.  She was just dx on October 31.  Her doc said she will be on these oral meds for 2-4 months and then do a SCT.  The nurse working with my sister said that once she is on these meds, she must wash her hands like crazy and try to avoid any germs so she does not get sick.  How careful does she need to be??  For example, when at family members homes, does...
