YOu can use the q-jet off the truck, you'll need to modify the fuel line a bit... You will need an Olds distributor with a vacuum advance though.. One from an Olds 350 will work... My first though would be the catalytic converter may be plugged.. DOes the check engine light come on at all?? How is it for power?? Does it seem to run nice and smooth, especially at idle???

you could try finding both swtiches off of ebay or at a junkyard relatively cheap. to me id does sound like a switch problem though.
