PJ It was COLD in the campground shelter but we had a nice fire going which made it very tolerable. Garry can always use extra folks to help with keeping the fire stoked at the shelter house, setting out the snacks, going out to pick up injured runners (there was one fellow who twisted his ankle that needed a ride from the trail back to his car), and serving hot chocolate. We'll put you on the volunteer list for next year! Karen

Cyclocross practice at JB?
Published (2009-11-30 12:55:00)
The cyclocross season is winding down, with 1 OVCX and 2 Cap City races remaining, and Nat's of course. Great job to all those that raced this Fall! Thanks for coming out to the Thursday CX practices at JB. I look forward to 2010 and starting them up again. Bring a friend and tell a buddy that cyclocross rocks. We have a great local group and can make it bigger. Thanks to all those that helped set up, work, and clean up after the weekend...

I think a lot of it depends on your weight, tire pressure and riding style.... with that said.... 195, varies and sloppy. Hutchinson VST Pythons were good for me when new but are very loose in dust, not a problem this past year but was the previous. They seemed to age and round off quite quickly which made them even scarier as it got dusty. Almost always have decent forward traction and quite fast. Kenda Komodo was good on rear and front...

+1 for kenda nevegals. they seem to work in every condition i have had them in: dry, dusty, wet, sloppy, frozen, leafy, and soon snowy but never muddy

Great day out there! OVCX #14 - Foreign Riders Prevail @ Ohio State Cyclocross Championships Greasy to bone-chilling to idyllic - three contrasts in weather conditions and three words that characterize the last three events at OVCX events at John Bryan State Park. If today's race weather would have been any more perfect - it wouldn't have been cyclocross. Sunny skies and temps in the high 40s greeted the 300 riders from 8 states...

Just curious what tires you guys are using (and are happy with) for the local terrain? I am running Kenda Nevegals. I am pretty happy with them, but I thinking about trying the WTB Velociraptors....seems like a pretty unique tread deisgn on the two tires. Anyonw have experience with the WTB?

Biking and running just keep on growing. This year there were over 180 runners out there. Kudos to Garry & Julie Blair for putting on this great event. Doug & I had fun serving hot chocolate. Sure wish I could train up to this distance - everyone looks like they had a good time out there. Karen

Hey guys...anyone have a suggestion for some SERIOUSLY warm, but not too bulky winter riding gloves? I have a decent pair for the trails, but on the open road at higher speeds, they do not do as well.

Hey it's Aaron B. and I am back in town until Friday morning (and then again for three weeks at Christmas). I want to see if there is any late support for a possible night ride at Momba or JB tonight 22nd? If not tonight I am free this week to get some riding in either mountain or road so let me know!
