The 232 that you have has a ballast resistor between the ignition and the coil. This is probably all that burned up. It is less likely, but not unheard of to burn up the starter solenoid as well. You can bypass that by doing a ford solenoid conversion. Do some searches over at binder planet, just IH and Ihonlynorth forums. You'll find a wealth of information.

Franzen, I purchased a 1973 Scout II for myself this past summer and it has been a great adventure so far. A couple of things to consider: 1) Initial cost of car Versus level of interest in restoring this vehicle. If you are willing to get your hands dirty and have the space to work, you can easily do most of the prep work and restoration yourself. If you want to just spend the money ...

having little tallent with bodywork, i lean toward engine. especially if the compression is good. if you can see considerable rust in pics, body mounts, tail gate, any channel areas are likely going to need alot of attention. just my two cents

You'll need the wiring harness computer (PCM ECM etc.) from the GM vehicle. Also you'll need to fab up a set of engine mounts as well as getting the adapter plate for the trans to match up with the new motor. Not sure if there is one available for it yet, you'll have to wait for someone with a better know-how to respond to that part. The more you have from the "donor vehicle" the ...
