I had a similar issue with trying to maintain a constant speed but not to the point of shifting up or down. In my case, the EGR TSB solved my issue and my van is a 4 speed.
A couple of things to try:
Try a "reboot" of the PCM - remove negative terminal (after you record your radio presets, etc.) and see if that helps the situation.
Next, check the
owner's manual for shift...

If it closes automatically with the button. Why would you need to close it

You haven't really provided enough information for us to make a determination of what is really going on. Is it the original transmission, what exactly are your symptoms, is your "
D" light flashing (indicating transmission trouble code(s) set? And so on. It is doubtful that new fluid will fix it, although it's not that expensive to try it. Is your existing fluid dark-colored and ...

Leave yourself 1.5 Hours just in case but I was able to complete the entire job in 45 minutes. I have to laugh because the Dealer wanted ~$450 (incl. parts) to do the job. That comes out to about $350 in labor. I am so PO'd at the dealer in
Paramus, NJ that I will not purchase a new vehicle from them.

2002-'04 had 5-speed automatics which had different problems and still a high failure rate. No ...

Try idling and
warming up with the temp gauge moving up BEFORE driving up the hill and see if it clunks?
And how long has this been happening? What about servicing regarding tranny drains/fills. And finally is this the original tranny?
