Turning Honda rotors on the vehicle
Published (2009-12-23 04:41:00)
How many miles you have to be on 3rd set of brake pads? If the mechanic resurface your rotor at every brake pad change I can see it lasting so long (perfect rotor + perfect pad). My 2006 has 35,000 miles when I changed the rotor and brake pads. The brake pads look like 75% life left. I even keep the brake pads as they look so new. I can't believe the brake pad last so long. Only reason I change the pads is because of new rotor and change...

prestone antifreeze additive??
Published (2009-12-27 22:40:00)
prestone antifreeze additive?? Any opinions of the "Prestone anti freeze additive" That is supposed to remain with your normal antifreeze? This product sells for around 6.00 and advertizes "water pump" protection and added benifits. Not just for my Honda but would it be good for any vehicle?

Honda Odyssey Batteries Reviewed
Published (2009-12-20 02:24:00)
Just some brief feedback. As I stated in the original post where I listed all batteries for this particular group size I mentioned towards the end that I went with an Interstate Mega-Tron PLUS. It has already gotten cold in MI and the van fires up like never before, it is amazing what ANY new battery can do with cold starts. Very happy so far with the battery and it had an excellent warranty, 800+CCA and an Interstate battery dealer around...

If you are in the Army or Army Civilian and have access to Army Knowledge Online (AKO), you can get the online Chilton manuals and Auto Repair Reference Center (AARC). Don't know if the other services have the same access. Just another spot to look for free data.

It sounds like a weak organic acid formulation with a small amount of lubricant for the water pump impeller shaft gland seal (the seal that works like the propeller shaft seal on a boat with an inboard engine but no outdrive, like say a MasterCraft ski boat). I think I'd just stick with a regular interval coolant change. $6.00 is the price of half a gallon of coolant. OF...

At least on other vehicles I have done you definitely do NOT want to runthe sump dry. You run some out, but leave some, so that the sump doesn'trun empty. I forget what the pan holds in the Odyssey, but say if it held 3quarts, you might run out 2 each time, then refill, then 2 again.Ron

I had a Honda Certified Mechanic tell me that is was crazy that Honda does not tell people to change out their power steering fluid. He said there is a need for auto makers to make their cars seem low to no maintenance, i.e. 100,000 mile spark plugs (they don't perform that well as they get close to 100,000), etc. I used the baster method on this forum first and it worked really ...

tried to do the drain and refill today..however, I am not able to loose the refill bolt ..The car has 42k miles and I had a local shop to do the 30k miles service for me. I thougt it will be easy to loose that bolt, but that's not the case.. Also, I can't find anything could fit the dip stick hole. What kind of tube do I need if I'd like to refill the ATF from the dip stick hole?...
