Catalytic Converter - need help...

quote: [i] So, when it actually fails it will throw the Code? Till then drive it? [/B] yup, drive it til it throws the code. It may do it in 2 days, it might do it in 2 years. Your rear 02 is a monitoring sensor only (this is the one that sits behind your cat, the one throwing the code), meaning, if your cat goes, your engine is NOT effected. And I wouldn't worry about the muffler - I've never seen, read or heard of anyone who had...

1999 transmission again
Published (2009-11-26 16:35:00)
You need to disassemble the transmission to access the internal strainer. Very few have gone to that extreme. The 1999 does not have a serviceable ATF filter - I know, crazy isn't it. Consider installing an external ATF filter like a Magnefine in the ATF return line to the transmission. I have and many others too. Keep up with the ATF drain and fills. Also, you can get loads of info by searching (black button top right) on topics such...

Brake Pad recommendation

quote: Originally posted by FrankBullitt I would stick with the OEM pads(can't remember their composition) which are typically good for 40K miles or so. When I first replaced the front pads about 6 years ago, I thought I would upgrade- I can't remember which, but I believe they were EBCs from TireRack. They were horrible. Squeaking, grinding and pulsating. After a couple weeks, I replaced them with OEM pads, and the brakes felt...

Intermittent start problem...
Published (2009-11-24 22:18:00)
The other thing is to make sure the male & female terminals are clean and shiny where they mate. The last time the battery was replaced the terminals may not have been cleaned properly and corrosion continues on until you get a battery which doesn't fully charge and a car that won't start. So many people ignore this easy but necessary work when replacing a battery. Sometimes a terminal cleaning is all that is needed when...

Ugh..I didn't update this post last night. I examined the brake pedal assembly and realized that the swtich needed to be placed back a little (hence the threads on the switch). Thanks for the post gen2blues! Hopefully this will help someone else with this issue. -Craig

Tires
Published (2009-11-18 03:02:00)
I just got off Michelin Hydroedge tires and were not too happy with them as they wore. Michelin has made the outer edges of the tread more shallow than the center part of the tread. As these tires wear, you will end up with a slick area on the inside and outside which leaves the water no where to go. Check out the tread depth on a brand new tire and you'll see what I am talking about. I just switched to Michelin Destiny/Harmony tires. I...

The 2003 Odyssey takes an H4 (or 9003) bulb. You require only 2 bulbs. Each bulb contains low and high beam filaments.

When was the battery replaced last time? When the test machine says remove and charge battery but you have been driving, its usually the battery that's dying. If your battery is over 2 - 3 years old, its on the fritz. Get a new one.

Common problem with most Hondas. I use 303 Aerospace protectant and several Qtips once a year to clean and lubricate the channel, or whenever I clean the weatherstrip. There are several threads on this already, most dealing with power window problems.

In a prior discussion on the subject, it was determined that OEM was the way to go for longetivity. Search for the old threads for more details as there were more than one asking the same question.

Never done it on the Ody, but I did on other cars. Used the (wife's) turkey
baster to suck the oil out of the reservoir, refill with fresh fluid, start
engine, turn steering wheel right to left to mix the fluid, stop engine,
empty the reservoir again, and repeat for a few cycles. The extra couple of
$$ spent on PS oil repeating the cycle is less pain than disconnecting any
other line on the rack....
