DIY: SeaFoam for 05 - 10 Odyssey
Published (2009-11-26 15:10:00)
At my current mileage, this is more of preventive maintenance than fixing a problem. Hence I am not expecting to see a substantial change from before, other than may be a slight increase in fuel economy. So far, I haven't seen any negative impact either. I just got done with the remainder of gas in the tank from Method 1 y'day. I will monitor on the next few tanks of gas to see if I can observe any difference.

On my '07, the roller shafts are smashed down essentially riveting the rollers on. There is no way to install new rollers unless the top portion of the shaft is ground off at which point there is nothing left to retain the new rollers.

NHTSA Brake Investigation
Published (2009-11-27 23:50:00)
Re: Re: Re: Soft brakes quote: Originally posted by enefin I have been to two different dealers for a total of three visits and all of them with the TSB in hand. I get the feeling that they are under significant pressure from Honda to not accept "soft" pedal as abnormal. Every time the modulator is replaced for this problem, the NHTSA needs to be informed! Another possibility is the dealer get the part from Honda and can only bill...

Service Manuals on CD from eBay?
Published (2009-11-26 02:33:00)
Service Manuals on CD from eBay? Has anyone bought service manuals on CD from eBay for the 3rd generation Odyssey? There are quite a few sellers that are selling them less than $9.00. I bought one for my old 95 Odyssey and it was the exact same service manual as the printed one. A coworker of mine recently bought one for a different Honda car and it didn't look like the real thing. The contents looked somewhat original, but just the way...

Aftermarket side mirrors
My passenger side miirror is cracked on my 08 EX-L.
Instead of paying $200 for a new OEM part, I am considering paying half that for an aftermarket part on Ebay and doing it myself.
Would an 05 side mirror work on the 08? I saw that many aftermarket mirror will fit 05-07, and some say 05-08.
so, Did the mirrors change since 05?
Also, any bad ...

Idk if i can be a big help here but wanted to give you some
infos to help you to make a decision
First, the wind noise. I would say that it is a bit noisier than
other vehicles. I rode my friends ford edge limited before and
his car was really quiet compare to my ody. If you're a person
who listens to your music on the road, I wouldn't say it's badly

This is why they say if it ain't broken don't ......
The dealer told me the same thing last week when I picked up my Accord. They said, it sometimes makes the vibration etc worse. So, I haven't taken mine in yet. They also told me that due to the issues, Honda has stopped sending out letters to all the customers. Mine does judder/drone pretty bad so I might just take it in and see ...

Method 1 & Method 2 Steps
For this DIY you will need :
2 16oz Cans of SeaFoam
Pliers
3ft long clear tube
a narrow tip funnel
and last but not the least, a good route plan (more on that in a bit).
Heat is a very important factor of the SeaFoam process both for SeaFoam to effectively clean up / loosen up the crud AND also for the crud to be hot enough to be blown ...

It should be just the two bolts per page 341 of the 2005 Oddy owner's manual. Try prying a bit harder I guess? They might be stuck due to age.

IMO I would get the Honda parts, I had to replace the lights on my Ford Escape and decided to save some bucks with aftermarket products, but they were of lesser quality. The plastic tabs were cheaply made and the lens was made of a lesser quality plastic than the OEM. I'm not saying all are bad, but if it comes from Honda you know it has passed their quality testing.
