TV Tuner Cards

1. I need it to be the higest possible HD quality in Sound & Video 2. It being a USB would be nice, but not needed. 3. Able to record HDTV as well as watch. 4. If possible, watch Cable and Satellite TV at the same time. Price, well under $150 would be nice, but I can go higher then that. This tuner seems to have a lot of connections and features, but is quite cheap... http://registration.hauppauge.com/we...roduct=hvr1800 Is this good...

To clafiry Old system: e6600, 2 gig of ram, 280gtx New system: e8500 4 gig same video card Upon installing new hardware I did reinstall windows. I checked the bios, everything seems fine, but I still get around 20 fps in every game I run, where as before with the old system I used to get at least 40.

I hope the idiot did not eat the fries. There are dozens of toxic chemicals and solvents in the computer parts that would leach into hot oil, not the worst of which is the lead in the solder.

Could be the board has a PCIe 8x slot instead of 16x? Since you still never told us what board this is I'm just stabbing around in the dark. Might want to try a BIOS update if all else fails.

it will install on SATA.. it may not work with the promise card.. what's the error you're getting? edit: ESX 3i is pretty finicky about hardware support. Getting it working outside of the supported hardware list can be difficult to impossible. That being said, I did get it installed and working on an HP dc7800 desktop computer with a single SATA drive. The built-in NIC would not work so I had to put in an older PCI NIC to get the...

Hi Fitz, It is telling me that it "cannot locate the device to write to" Thanks for the link as well, will do some reading. I would like to have redundancy on my install. Maybe an install on top of an OS would be better than a bare metal install............. Thanks again, fitz, Heeter

Hey all, I am trying to install VMWare esxi 3.5 onto sata drives, and it won't go, giving me errors. I tried a couple of IDE drives and the same error. What do I need to make this work? Can I install this on a mirrored raid using a Promise PCI SATA card? Thanks all, Heeter

I have a brand-new computer that was operating OK when originally installed (mostly; had some erratic boot failures), but went down when I tried to install an HP Photosmart C5280 All-in-one Printer. The system displayed a blue screen message that it experienced an error and shutting down. Subsequently the computer will not boot. It fails erratically at different points: 1) most common-...

Hi everyone, I want to hook up an LCD monitor to my laptop. I do mainly Excel/Outlook work so I am more concerned about crisp, clear text than color matching. Which specifications should I focus on? Are there any recommendations on a specific make/model? I am looking for a 19" or 21" Widescreen for under $250. What should I look for in an LCD monitor? All helpful recommendations are most welcome...

So I have been for awhile trying to record sound along with my videos. The only way I can get any sound (any its very quite) is through my mic. I have onboard sound with the EVGA 780i SLI motherboard. I should be able to record sound correct? Am I doing something wrong, or whats the problem? And sorta side question, but related. In the attached image, what setting should I be on?

What game are you playing? You should disable V-sync if possible. I've found that there is an increase of around 10-15fps on Counter Strike by disabling v-sync.

rule of thumb - if its computer to computer - nothing else in between you will need a cross over cable, if its a router, wall socket, patch panel then it will always be a straight through or patch cable as we call hem over here only different between the two is that on one end two of the wires need to be crimped onto different pins - think its 4 and 6 not too sure been such a long time since...
